Very welcome break after several long walks in this beautiful part of the UK. Landlord most welcoming, friendly and obliging. The food Very reasonable and very delicious "best steak ever" and good portion sizes. Toilets and surroundings Very clean. Will definitely return.

Our room, though small, had good facilities. A comfortable bed, excellent shower, plenty of coffee and tea, free Wi-Fi and a tv. It was lovely and warm. Our evening meal was delicious and breakfast was a feast. Great location for visiting Hadrian’s Wall and the beautiful country in the area. Happy to recommend this pace to others.

Excellent stopover at this very clean and well run pub with rooms. Great value for the room including a generous and well cooked breakfast with good quality ingredients. Despite being over a pub, no noise in the room from the bar below. Special mention to every member of the team. Everyone we met was welcoming and friendly and went out of their way to help. We also had evening meal - good honest 'pub grub' which hit the spot after a days walk. Huge portions, good price and excellent service.

Came here for opening on a weekend as I was told it can get quite busy. Brilliant service by the lady at the bar who was also the waitress. Had the homemade pie which was absolutely delicious and a tomato soup for our son which was also homemade along with the cheesy bread. Had stick toffee pudding and creme brulee for pudding, both homemade and delicious aswell. Pricing is average for a country pub. Will definitely be returning when back in Northumberland!

Another Sunday lunch review (My 150th) combined with a trip down memory lane, the venue, The Bowes Hotel, Bardon Mill and a place that was often frequented by my late father and myself as a kid in the 1980’s as we lived close-by. A table for two reserved, the lady-friend and the two yappy dogs in tow, a nice table by the window, a lovely greeting off the couple from behind the bar and a 0% Guinness and a beer shandy ordered in to wet our lips and our visit to The Bowes Hotel was starting off great. Two pan fried mushrooms on bruschetta starters ordered in, with a tri-meats main (Beef, lamb, chicken) for myself and a lamb dinner for the lady. Desserts were a couple of crème brûlée. All courses were very competitively priced compared to similar type venues in the locality, add a few drinks and for the best part of £70 we had a lovely Sunday afternoon out. The important stuff, all courses came within good time, the pan fried mushrooms starters were absolute heaven, the Sunday dinners we received were absolutely huge with the meats cooked to perfection, lovely roasties and quite possibly the best mashed potato and red cabbage combination that I’ve devoured. I have it on very good authority from my gorgeous dining partner that the cauliflower cheese was delightful too. Service was excellent, very attentive and some nice general chit-chat from staff/owners, the ambiance was fine, some classic ‘Queen’ tracks playing at a nice background level. I couldn’t fault The Bowes Hotel in Bardon Mill, I’m more than happy to recommend the place and I look forward to a return trip in the future.

We only stayed one night but thought it was great value. The bedrooms were large and spacious with everything you could want. And what can I say about the food - the portions were very generous and great value as well. Hope to be back to explore more of that part of Northumberland.

Staff genuinely friendly and helpful nothing too much trouble. Local people very friendly as well. Will stay again next time we visit the area.

We stayed for one night on a trip walking Hadrian's wall. Excellent experience all round. Lovely room, very comfortable, everything you need, nice decor, good bathroom. Breakfast was excellent, the best we had of the several places we stayed on our trip. Staff lovely and a pleasant local feel. Highly recommend.

I was looking for a hotel near Hexham and saw the excellent reviews on the Bowes Hotel. It did not disappoint the room, we had the Pottery room, was beautiful everything done to a very high standard. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was great. All of the staff were extremely friendly. We ate there on the evening and the food was really nice and reasonably priced. All in all a lovely place to stay, not far off the A69 and very easy to find. Highly recommended.
