In arrival I was told that booking in was only at 3pm and on my email letter of confirmation it clearly stated 2pm. It looked as if the lady DS not believe me and so I fortunately had the confirmation email on my phone to show her. She then told me she would make and exception and allow me to book in an hour earlier! I find it frustrating that I should even hear the word “exception” as I was not in the wrong in the first place. The only other suggestion I have is that there should be a non-slip mat available to use in the shower as well as a handle to hold onto when showering and wanting to wash one’s feet. I am sure you have mane elderly visitors and it would prevent them from slipping in the shower in the slippery floor and falling. Apart from these two things I slept well and found the view over the pond with the birds a lovely one. All nice and clean and can recommend the hotel as a safe one to stay over.

We booked for 4 Days for St John Ambulance Training. Every was excellent and special thanks for to Wendy, Kirsty and Roan for all the help they gave us. breakfast were great but just one more thought, could there be a little more variation, say mushrooms, tomatoes etc from time to time. We decided to return to the South Lakes Zoo since we hadn’t been for nearly 10 yrs & decided if we did we would stop over as we live in newcastle and it’s a long day to drive there in morning & straight back in 1 day so I looked for accommodation close by. I came across the Abbey Apartments in Barrow-in-Furness only a ten minute drive from the zoo and being a young family we wanted to be close to bars & restaurants but have our own space not a pokey hotel room. The apartment is perfect I booked the penthouse (number 3) for the night and the location is perfect and comes with a onsite parking space which is a bonus being in a town centre. The apartment itself is very modern and I’d say very recently converted or re decorated as it’s spotless and the sofas still have their tags on them. The penthouse has 2 good double bedrooms with king size beds there’s a family bathroom with a bath and a separate shower and there’s a cosy living room/ kitchen diner wit all mod cons 60” curved tv with sky ,free internet , electric hobb a washing machine that I doubt has ever been used as that also has the big sticker on the drum door & everything you have at home plates glasses knives forks condiments iron ironing board everything although we didn’t use any of them they are there ! The beds are very comfortable for a rental. The location is brilliant we visited the ODD FROG restaurant /bar which is a 2 minute walk from the Abbey road entrance (turn left when exiting apartment block from Abbeyroad entrance) it’s a live music modern bar / restaurant that serve Tapas I strongly recommend visiting & in the morning again if you exit the apartment from the Abbey road entrance if you turn right this time & walk approx 4 minutes you’ll find Weatherspoons which we all know is a great stop off point to grab breakfast before you set off on your day there’s also a Tesco Extra about a 10 min walk from the apartment if you want to dine in and a dominos , subway ,McDonald’s all walkable. I would highly recommend the abbey apartments if you looking to stop in Barrow-in-Furness.

Booked in advance, please with B&B rate. Arriving by rail, so train station a couple of hundred yards across the road made it ideal. Friendly welcome & allocated a room on the ground floor. Large double room with a huge bathroom, large/deep bath and seperate walk-in shower. Plenty of towels and shower gel etc. also. Large tv (many freeview channels). Bed was huge and comfortable, plenty of pillows also. I was a little concerned about road noise, however did not affect me getting off to sleep or wake me (stayed a Thursday night). Had a lovely evening meal with a couple of drinks, not too expensive. Likewise the breakfast ( had a full !) in the morning was very good also, plenty of choice. Checkout was friendly & efficient. Overall, no issues staying here and will stay again the next time I am in Barrow.
