Me & my husband went to Barry island and found Gail's guest house online. We booked through there website and got a good price. We had never been to Barry before. We had room 2 on August 25h for 2 nights. We arrived and the room was lovely, it was a small room but perfect for me and my husband and had everything we needed, kettle, hairdryer, fridge, iron even had a fold up side table and a fan because it was the bank holiday and it was very hot. We got breakfast included and it was so nice, we got to choose what we wanted the night before and leave it in the box and in the morning apart from the cooked breakfast there was a table set out with all teas, coffees, fresh orange, cereal , croissants and yoghurts and fruits. We only met the gentleman who runs it but he was very helpful and helped us with planning our activities. I read some reviews before going and some were bad..but since I have stayed I don't understand the negatives. yes the outside was a lot to be desired but the inside is lovely and well kept. I couldn't recommend this B&B enough, it was our first stay and won't be our last

The room was clean on the surface, but if you inspected it closely it could have been cleaner. The bed was uncomfortable, it was so soft that you couldn’t get a good night's sleep. On the left hand side it dipped terribly so that you could fall off if you rolled over. The shower tray did not drain away very well, so half way through showering it felt you were standing in a paddling pool, with the worry that it would flood through the doors and on to the floor, so we couldn’t take a long luxurious shower. We didn’t really have much communication with the owners but they seemed pleasant. However, we only had breakfast on the first day. We ordered up front as requested, there was only 1 of each item on the plate (i.e. 1 sausage, 1 bacon, 1 egg, 1 slice of toast), maybe we could have asked for more when ordering but that wasn’t specified on the form. The sausage was just about cooked, the bacon was rock hard and the mushrooms were salty (I’m guessing they were tinned). The continental wasn’t anything to write home about, 1 tub with cornflakes in, a couple of croissants, bananas that were going black. We didn’t go back for our paid for breakfast on the second day because of the following. When we had finished our breakfast I was facing the kitchen and they were cooking the next couples breakfast. They got the bacon out of the microwave, he touched it with bare hand and told the lady to put it back in the microwave for a few more seconds, then he put his finger in his ear to scratch it, and immediately after this he was plating up their food with tongues in one hand but was re-arranging the food with the bare hand that he had just scratched his ear with. Then, he was showing the lady something on his phone, leaning over a counter, and was scratching his head while doing this. She then proceeded to put clean plates on this counter without wiping it over first. If we were to go back to Barry Island I’m afraid we would not be staying here. Helpful

Superb value for money. The outside of the property really lets it down. As you approach you want to turn round and go back to the station, however, the inside is bright and clean with everything you could want. The welcome is warm and friendly and the breakfast is top notch. Highly recommend it.

It was awful never have i been in a bed and breakfast like it the place smelt awful. All the other guests at the time were saying exactly the same thing we only booked because the reviews were so good . The breakfast was awful unedible is how i would describe it . No one greeted you owner was not there at breakfast until later and had the breakfast already cooked and then dished it up. Would not stay there again.

A nice on suite room. Had a good breakfast, ideally located (cut through the park and across the railway bridge to hit the front /amusements). Had a nice cooked breakfast and there was a good continenental style breakfast on offer Would return

Fantastic short stay
Really lovely guest house in a quiet location but just a short walk from the railway station and centre of town. The room was very comfortable, the breakfast excellent and the host extremely welcoming.

Went to visit Barry Island with my partner who has previously lived in the area. Booked to stay here as it was in a good location and at a reasonable price. We arrived slightly early and the gentleman owner let us check in. The room was small and basic but provided all we needed for the night. We had our own bathroom which was very clean. Tea/coffee facilities and a fridge in the wardrobe also provided. The breakfast was beautiful and set us up for the day and served by the friendly and cheerful owner. Would happily stay here again and would recommend.
