1863 Restaurant with Rooms

Absolutely amazing stay at 1863 last weekend. Superb king sized room fitted to a very high specification. We specifically booked here for an overnight stay and meal on our way back to Warwickshire from a trip to Edinburgh. As it was my wife’s birthday we were looking for something a bit special and the meal did not disappoint! Lovely staff, small car park attached oh and an amazing breakfast as well! Keith Jones

This was our 5th or 6th visit to 1863 and they still impress with the quality of the service, welcoming and friendly staff, overall environment and especially the food, which is fantastic and at a very reasonable price given the quality of thought, ingredients and presentation involved …will definitely return again in the coming months. Absolutely stunning place! The Gable suite is just amazing… comfy bed, luxury toiletries, spacious, probably the nicest room we’ve stayed in! It’s pure class. Restaurant is decorated beautifully, whilst still feeling very homely. It is immaculately cleaned! We had the 7 course taster menu, that was impeccably served and the breakfast is to die for! Highly recommend 1863 and would love to stay again!

Stunning dinner, well informed and welcoming staff. Room was spacious and very comfortable. Bathroom large and well equiped. Bed, pillows, towels and lovely bathroom products all wonderful. Great breakfast, lots of choices, eggs done to perfection.

Amazing tasting menu, with wine flight. We had seven courses with a few little suprises. Every course was super. The staff very attentive and knowledgeable. Nice relaxing atmosphere. Table yours all night so no rushing between courses. Also served great cocktails.

Thank you to everyone at 1863 who made our stay so fantastic. We have eaten here on previous trips to Pooley Bridge but never stayed. We booked a 2 night dinner bed and breakfast deal. We checked in after walking Place Fell, it was a freezing cold day. The room was warm and beautifully decorated, with a complimentary ginger bridge biscuit to have with your cup of coffee. Everything in the room is of a high standard, comfortable bed, dressing gowns, complimentary bathing products, fluffy towels and a hot shower. We had a 3 course meal on the first night and a 7 course taster menu on the second night. Wow, compliments to the chef. Amazing food, every course was packed with flavour and beautifully presented. I can’t do it justice describing it in a review you should come and try it for yourself. My favourites were the cod and venison dishes and that Baron Bigod on salted cracker was delicious. The pistachio frangipan and rhubarb desert was one of the best I’ve ever had. Breakfast was lovely too. The staff are so helpful and very knowledgeable with recommendations about drinks. We had a great time. Thanks to all at 1863 😊
