A perfect hotel, owned and operated by the cavendish family. The food is very good, Michelin in 2020, and the ingredients are supplied by their own channels. The breakfast is rich. It is a 30-minute walk to Chatsworth House, if you are not afraid of the wind in this season. There are lawns and 🐑 all the way. If you have seen "Pride and Prejudice", this is a must-visit place.

We stopped by on the off-chance. having called to book but had to leave an answer phone message, for afternoon tea. Lovely setting, efficient service and a good selection for afternoon tea - including my vegetarian choices. Will certainly go again, and we recommend.

Just returned from a wonderful stay at the Cavendish hotel. The food was delicious - sandwiches, scones and shortbread, the dinner tasting menu and breakfast were all equally excellent. The staff at the hotel were also incredible. They accommodated our son to stay with us at very short notice - making him up a bed in our room, sourcing him a last minute ticket for Christmas at Chatsworth House and arranging a children’s menu for him whilst my husband and I enjoyed the tasting menu. The Christmas decor in the hotel was beautiful and the staff gave me a card and chocolate for my birthday. Cannot wait to return again next year! Thank you to all staff for making my birthday break into a great family weekend away!

A fabulous location on the boarders of Chatsworth, recently renovated with a homely decor and eclectic mix of art and furnishings. Unfortunately our evening was spoilt by a rushed service from both sommelier who although knowledgeable was too busy to engage. The waitress argumentative and cold when told about a dish that arrived when my wife had finished her meal. No apology . We were celebrating coming back to the uk after years as expats as well as our anniversary of which no mention. However the food is perfectly cooked the menu focused and the wine cellar a good spectrum for all tastes. We give the benefit of the doubt but would ask for the service to be at the right level and ensure customers paid attention to, we left in silence no one to bid farewell

This hotel, set in and part of, the Chatsworth Estate deserves its five-star rating. From the moment you enter there is a sense of calm with the staff working with each other waiting to help. Nothing is too much trouble. Everything is taken care of. The location, amidst the Derbyshire hills and trees, brings its own beauty and peacefulness. Local walks start at the front door and extend across the estate, which includes Chatsworth House, well worth a visit. The ‘cosy’ rooms are spacious with the hotel benefiting from a recent extensive refurbishment. Everything works, which cannot be said of many hotels. The two restaurants, one for fine dining and the other its 8, or so, course “Signature” menu both benefit from the excellent chef and kitchen, which deservedly have a good reputation. Gluten free was managed very well. The only small issue, raised by many Trip Advisor reporters, is the delay in serving the courses at mealtimes. For us three courses in 2 ½ hours became more noticeable as the evening wore on. Name badges for all the staff would be a useful aid to communication. But we will most definitely return to enjoy the benefits of this small luxury hotel and its beautiful surroundings.

We decided to stay after reading The Sunday Times review - Best UK Hotel. Whilst it’s a beautiful country hotel. The service is a shocker ! That said service is very good in the Garden restaurant. Our room was a long way from reception and very difficult to find, there was no offer of showing us to our room. We got lost, still no help! Try getting a cup of tea whilst sitting in lounge can take up to 30 mins ,despite staff walking past the whole time. Your cake tends to arrive after you have finished your tea. It’s a shame that the service is so hit and miss. The general manager needs to get a grip.

Comfortable, beautiful hotel with great staff. We stayed for a couple of nights in room 4, Boyle, lovely comfy bed, a great room with two chairs and wonderful view over to Chatsworth. (You can walk to Chatsworth, just go through the gate for a pleasant walk there). It’s the little extra touches, like the homemade biscuits and the shower/bath get and body lotion. All immaculately clean and lovely fluffy white towels. We also ate in the garden room on both nights, the food is great, good local produce, well cooked and presented. Yes, you may have to wait slightly longer but it’s not mass produced or ‘here’s one I made earlier’, ping! Neither is it over priced, we had a selection of sandwiches and shared a plate of scones, with tea. It didn’t break the bank and you pay nearly the same for an M&S one without the setting and atmosphere. We’d definitely say to anyone if you want style, class, comfort with really good food and friendly welcoming staff come here and see for yourself.

My husband booked a surprise afternoon tea for my birthday. It exceeded my expectations, the location was picturesque, the restaurant was peaceful and all the staff made us very welcome. I would like to give a special shout out to Anastasia and the Chef, who went the extra mile to accommodate my dietary request. It was a memorable experience and one I will cherish.
