Eclypse de Mar Acqua Lodge
8.8 (55 reviews)

Eclypse de Mar Acqua Lodge ★★★

📍 Bastimentos Island, Bastimento

"Breakfast and staff was very good, friendly and helpful. Room was clean. Diner was fine but spring rolls way too greasy. The slats of the door were broken and did not close. This allowed everyone to look inside. That was worthless because the room was at the passage that everyone walked past We had to pay extra for the cocktails even though we were told we'd get two for the price of one, not two of the same. She only mentioned this afterward. It's a shame you only find out about this when you pay. Happy hour isn't explained on the menu."

📍 Isla Solarte, Bastimento

"Special thaks to Andrea and Alberto for making my experience so great. The staff were amazing—highly professional yet super friendly and fun at the same time. This hostel is an absolute gem and honestly puts most hotels to shame. It’s 100% eco-friendly, fully powered by solar panels, and beautifully built entirely out of wood, giving it the coziest vibe. On top of that, the food is mind-blowing—fresh, delicious, and incredibly high quality."

Palmar Beach Lodge ★★★

📍 Red Frog Beach, Bastimento

"A paradise for all nature lovers. A pleasant little path leads you to the property, immediately immersing you in the atmosphere with monkeys, turtles, crabs, and birdsong. This place is simply magnificent, nestled in the forest with its beautiful beach perfect for strolling. The room was perfect, with its little terrace perched high in the trees. The decor blends seamlessly with nature. The restaurant offers generous portions and delicious food. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and attentive. A truly wonderful experience! Thank you so much."

Akwaba Lodge ★★★★
"I really had high expectations...that had been highly disappointed! The super expensive "lodge" is full of insects: mosquitos, ants, other unidentified insects and gekos that freely run on the walls and sh***ng on the bed. I want to say that I've slept everywhere in the world, from Safari huts in South African parks, to India, from huts in the jungle in the Amazon forest to humble hostels around South America and Europe...so I perfectly know that a hut (or "lodge") in the forest is full of insects or other animals but...there MUST be a net around the bed!!! Result: I spent a terrible sleepless night, full of bites of chitras or who knows what. The bed was full of everything biting me. In the morning I told about it at the reception, but the woman said that it was normal, it happened to her all the time, all I could do was going back to Bocas Del Toro Island (15 dollars boat to go and 15 to come back) to go to a pharmacy. She did NOT apologise, she did NOT show concern or empathy, she did NOT try to help with a cream for insects bites or changing the room. NOTHING. I was feeling so much pain because of the itchy skin all over my body. The night before she was rude as well because we kindly asked what to do about the insects in the room. She spoke with all the guests except us. Literally avoiding us. Did not help us to know what tours or other things we could do in the morning either. Notice that the "sea view" room has no sea view because of the tropical forest, so they shouldn't advertise it with that description and make you pay more for it. I decided to leave before the end of the stay, I needed to go to a pharmacy and see a doctor or go to the hospital, I could not stay there any longer. On top of that they did NOT offer a refund for the night I did not stay there, nor for the discomfort and inconvenience. NOT even a discount, they did NOT even offer a drink or the dinner. NO. Everything was billed and they still refuse to refund a single dollar. Terrible service. They need to do maintainance of the structure and learn how to treat guests, especially when you pay so much to relax and spend a few days on holidays. A nightmare."

Six Pillars Resort
"The perfect escape in paradise! The owner (Robert and his wife Maile) contacted us immediately after booking with helpful instructions, which made us feel very welcome. Upon arrival into Bocas del Toro, Robert’s helpful boat aide (Rodolfo) picked us up and escorted us to the premises with a beautiful ride on the water. We were upgraded free of charge and the villa was absolutely incredible - amazing views, spacious, clean and furnished to a high standard. Robert gave us a guided tour of the grounds and WiFi is strong throughout, then at dinner we were blown away by away with the sublime food in our 3-course meals. I would highly recommend this stay!"

Al Natural Resort ★★
"Amazing family adventure in a rustic eco-resort. Review of Al Natural Resort Pending reviewReviewed Our family of 3 just returned from 10 day trip in Panama. We spent 5 nights at Al Natural Resort in the 3 bedroom Villa. The Villa could use some tweaks as it's starting to show it's age here and there but mostly was amazing. We especially enjoyed our very big long deck with two hammocks and the most gorgeous view out to the ocean. We had a great time, Michel, Ishmael and Vincent along with the other staff (Jacob our boating and snorkel guide) made this a very unique and special trip for our family. Michel is the most welcoming host and owner of this boutique eco resort. Michel is welcoming and friendly and helps to meet everyone's needs on the resort. He also helps to arrange all excursions. He eats every meal with the guests ( all meals are served family style and Vincent prepares the most amazing meals, with nothing prepared twice for lunch or dinner.) Ishmael is there to help with any small matter, and is great while serving as our host at all meals, and double dutying as bartender. He is warm and friendly. Vincent as said earlier makes every meal and he really outdid him self with his desserts. He especially helped make our last night special with an Indian feast and a birthday cake for my husband's 50th along with another guests birthday as well. It made our ending even more memorable as they accomodated for all us guests staying up late and setting up the speakers (using a playlist from an iphone) to have a little dance party. Finally, Jacob was just amazing as a tour guide mostly as our snorkeling guide (definetly do this with him!). Whil stayin at the resort we did several execursions including the cocoa farm, dolphin bay (twice and where we saw dophins both times!) Snorkeling (we loved it so much we did this twice- Jacob is a fantastic guide) the sloth tour in the mangroves and the local community tour. My husband also went surfing. Please note even though it rained all day on and off on our first day Michel still helped to plan the excursion to the cocoa farm, and on the way Jacob stopped in dolphin bay and helped play with the dolphins by going in circles so we could see the dolphins jump. So even when the weather is not ideal it is fun. That is the kind of place this is where you make new friends, eat like family and have fun adventures every day"
