Don't let the reviews fool you like it did us.
Ando Hotel is unbelievably terrible. The worst hotel ever. So bad that we forfeited whatever we paid and checked out early. The reviews must be bought.
Cleanliness -
The rooms are extremely dirty. Toilet bowl has pee and poo stains, and what looked like cigarette ash. The moment you lift the toilet bowl cover, there was a very strong pee smell.
The bedsheets, pillow case and towels had questionable brown stains and patches.
We had to request for housekeeping twice cause the first time they came (we left the room) , they only wiped away the cigarette ash.
And when housekeeping came the second time to clean the toilet bowl upon request, their staff wore their shoes into the bathroom, and stepped all over the floor cloth and floor.
A lot of mosquitoes and flat moths in the room as well.
Amenities -
No hairdryer, need to request. Upon check in, the toilet paper is probably left from the previous guest it was already 2/3 used.
We left to go out, trusting that the cleanliness issue will be solved when we returned. However, when we got back, it clearly was not and we realised that the shower glass door will not close shut, keeps opening when bathing. The toilet flush is very weak and there was a strong sewage smell.
Because of all these issues, we actually requested for a room change with the night staff on duty but he called their engineer to fix the door instead and was not very helpful at all.
In fact, when we decided to check out early and forfeit the amount paid, we explained the situation to the day staff, who seemed very shocked to hear we were refused a room switch.
Noise -
Terribly noisy. The soundproofing is non existent.
I've never stayed in a hotel with worse soundproofing than Ando Hotel.
First, you have noise from the streets because a lot of Grab drivers hang out there.
Second, the guest room opposite our rooms is used as a storage room and the staff would enter and exit. From 8pm to 10ish pm, the storage room door and the staircase door was repeatedly opened and SLAMMED SHUT by the staff. All the way up to 3/4am, you have guests returning and slamming their doors shut. You can hear their entire conversation even if they are down the hall. I can completely understand if guests behave inconsiderately, but for staff to do so...?
The staff -
Most of them are very polite and friendly and helpful.
But the night staff on duty really spoilt the overall experience.
