The Inn at Gristmill Square
"I put off writing this review for many weeks, hoping the owner of this Inn would get back to me personally, as I'd rather handle issues in person, but she never did, so here goes. My husband and I with our small dog stayed here for one night on our way back home, after a long road trip. I was excited to stay in this historic inn, as it has good reviews and looks adorable. And yes, it is really cute. I addressed several concerns with the staff person who checked us out the next morning. She was very apologetic and told me she would contact the owner, Kate, about these issues and copied me on her email. Although Kate got back to her employee, I never heard a word from her as a way of an apology, acknowledgment of our experience or anything else. By the way, I also did say a couple of positive things about the Inn to the employee, so I'm not all about just the negative. We were charged a $75 pet fee, which is expected, I gladly pay and is no different than any other place we stayed at on our vacation. But, for $75 dollars, I expect the room to be clean and safe for not only us, but for my dog, when we check in. While looking for a lost sock, my husband found a couple of prescription pills just under the bed, and upon looking up what these were, could have been very harmful to my dog if he had found them, or a small child for that matter. My dog did find food (I assumed it was food) under the chair at the foot of the bed, which, luckily, I got away from him, as I did not know what it was. My husband also found about a two-inch screw on the carpet next to the bed and stepped bare foot on another screw in front of the bench by the window. Again, if my dog had ingested either or both of these, it could have led to a very expensive vet visit. There were a couple of other issues, such as a very loose toilet seat, which you think the cleaning staff would have found, and such, that Kate knows about, but I will not mention here. My husband and I owned our own businesses for many years and know the importance of good communication and customer relations. I don't expect a refund, full or partial, never asked for one and won't now, but I did expect a personal note from the owner, Kate, acknowledging our experience. Very disappointing customer service from someone who has been in the hospitality industry for years."

The Anderson Cottage Bed & Breakfast
"This was my first experience staying at a bed and breakfast, and it was truly exceptional. The property is a beautifully maintained historic home filled with character and charm. The hosts were gracious and welcoming, taking the time to share breakfast with us and engage in pleasant conversation. The breakfast itself was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. We particularly enjoyed relaxing on the wraparound porch in the afternoon with a cup of coffee, listening to the soothing sounds of the nearby stream. The location is also ideal—peaceful and scenic, yet only 10–15 minutes from the Omni Homestead. Overall, this bed and breakfast provided a perfect combination of comfort, hospitality, and charm. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a relaxing and memorable stay in the area."
