Beijing Guanshandi Hotel

The hotel is quite close to Yanqi Lake Park, but upon arrival, I realized it's just a regular children's playground, not the famous Instagrammable Yanqi Lake spot. The hotel's cleanliness was decent, and the facilities were typical of an older hotel – pretty basic, and no fridge in the room. However, breakfast was a pleasant surprise! The steamed rolls and other items were freshly made, not frozen, and the spread was generous with fresh fruit too. So, overall, good marks for that. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, but parking is a nightmare. The hotel has ample parking, but it's a bit of a walk to get out and about. The hotel also has its own restaurant, which I didn't try, but I noticed the prices were actually a bit cheaper than outside.

This is my second stay at this hotel, and this time I was in the Sihai building. The room was clean and tidy, the bedding was comfortable and soft, and the breakfast was abundant and delicious. They also offered 2 hours of complimentary badminton. Highly recommended!

The environment is great and quiet, and parking is very convenient. The room facilities are a bit dated but still functional. It offers great value for money, highly recommended.

I booked a mini room, but they upgraded me to a standard room upon arrival, which was great! The receptionist was very friendly! Because it was the off-season, there were very few guests, so the hotel was very quiet. It's also very close to Yanqi Lake, within walking distance. The breakfast was plentiful; they prepared a whole table of food for two people! 😆

The hotel offered virtually no service and had a very low occupancy rate, and there were reasons for this. For a hotel costing 800 yuan a day, breakfast wasn't served until 8:30 am, the carpets and chairs were worn and stained, and there was no one on duty at the front desk at night.

Warning: I was sound asleep around 9 AM when a female staff member suddenly swiped her card and opened the door without knocking or permission, waking me abruptly. The staff member, hearing someone was there, closed the door and ran away. I contacted the hotel and Ctrip, but the hotel dragged their feet for two hours, offering only Ctrip points (equivalent to 200 RMB) as compensation. To date, I have not received any official apology or statement from the hotel! The room also had a strong, unpleasant smell of rotting wood.

I felt very comfortable because I traveled during off-peak hours. It was quiet and not crowded. The hotel facilities were complete and comfortable, clean and hygienic, and the environment was beautiful and pleasant. The back door path leads directly to the Sunrise Oriental Hotel Dam. The service was very good.

The breakfast buffet was plentiful, the rooms were very clean and housed daily, the environment was great, and it was conveniently located near parks and restaurants, making it ideal for families. A superb experience!

Two frustrating things: First, the room only had two bottles of mineral water; any more would cost extra, which is ridiculous for a hotel of such a high price. Second, because I checked in early in the morning, I wanted to use my breakfast voucher for the next morning (I wouldn't be eating there the next day), but that wasn't possible.
