Dong Fang Hotel

The Oriental Hotel is just one street away from Dashilar, making it super convenient to go to Qianmen for food and drinks. I'd suggest renting an electric scooter for even easier travel. If you're not heading to Dashilar, there are plenty of hidden gem eateries in the trendy hutongs right behind the hotel. It's less than a 10-minute walk through the hutongs from the subway station. It's also really easy to get to nearby attractions like the Temple of Heaven, the National Museum, and Wangfujing. Most importantly, the hotel pays great attention to detail, and the breakfast is excellent, even featuring their special stir-fried liver. The amenities are all high quality, and the service is simply outstanding! I stayed for three nights and it was very comfortable. The hot water was great too, and the body wash and shampoo felt really good to use! It truly lives up to its reputation as a century-old establishment.

Very good, the room was clean and hygienic, and getting around was convenient. They even gave us a small gift upon check-in. Although it's on a main street, it wasn't noisy at all. I stayed for several nights in a row and slept very comfortably.

This hotel, despite its age, is excellently managed with top-notch service. The carpets are impeccably clean, and there's no unpleasant smell in the room, which is quite rare for an older hotel! The front desk staff were incredibly polite and made me feel very comfortable.

We stayed here with our child specifically to visit Tiananmen Square. The room location was great, and the breakfast was abundant. Compared to other hotels near Tiananmen Square, the room size was quite decent. The breakfast area was also clean and bright. The only downside is that it's an older hotel, so the facilities are a bit outdated. It has floor-to-ceiling windows with a great view, and the room gets sunlight early in the morning. However, you can't open the windows, only use the air conditioning, which can make it feel a bit stuffy. For express deliveries and takeout, you have to go to the first floor to pick them up. Despite that, it was very clean, and we felt very comfortable and safe staying there. We also successfully requested a late checkout.

The room was spacious and clean, and the historical building behind was perfect for photos! The food at the second-floor restaurant was mediocre, suitable for business banquets. The coffee shop on the first floor has a Republic of China style, great for photos, but the coffee and desserts were just so-so. The air conditioning in the room was old, and there was no laundry room; these two aspects need improvement.

The front desk staff were incredibly thoughtful and even upgraded us to a suite for free. During our stay, the room was cleaned thoroughly every day we returned, and all the staff were very friendly. The decor also has a lovely historical charm. I would definitely choose to stay here again.

This hotel is absolutely amazing and perfectly matches my mom's traditional aesthetic. The breakfast is super lavish, filled with international guests. The mattress is super, super soft—I want to buy one for myself. The only downside is that it's not very wheelchair-friendly, as you have to get out and walk through a couple of doorways.

This used to be my favorite hotel in Nancheng, with its strong Republic of China vibe. The environment was still great during this stay, but there's a major flaw. The Celebrity Suite rooms now have a screen door the same size as the French windows, which used to open directly to the outside. This screen door also has a password lock. My question is: what if there's a fire and we can't escape through the door? Can the front desk answer all Celebrity Suite calls simultaneously and provide the password for the lock? Where does this leave guest safety?
