Very charming boutique style hotel located within narrow old Beijing style alleyway right next to a police station. Hotel is 10 mins walking distance from Beijing railway station, shops and restaurants. 15 mins drive to downtown (Wangfujin area). Check-in/out process was easy, staff are friendly. No elevators, staircase to 2-3 floors but porter helps with luggage (free of charge), free late night snacks (10-11pm) and complimentary drinks and coffee provided at reception. Good selection of food at buffet breakfast. The whole building is full of photos and histories of past owners (Edgar Snow and wife). Rooms are comfortable but can use some updating. Many expatriates are seen lounging in the courtyard at all times of the day. Location is easy to find but alleyway is very narrow for incoming cars (not designed for 2 way traffic). Taxi/Didi may have a hard time getting in/out so best to hail rides on main street which is a short distance away.

Loved the coziness of this, has an amazing courtyard where some quiet drinks and chat can be had. Cool history behind it. Location was amazing and close to metro. Restaurant was absolutely amazing, food delicious. Staff super friendly and helpful.

On a scorching 36-degree day, as soon as we arrived at the hotel entrance, someone proactively opened the door for us. While checking in, the front desk staff brought me a glass of water, and even though I declined help with my luggage, they still offered twice. The room might be a bit small, but it's perfectly functional – a compact space with everything you need. There's a laundry room and a restaurant. We chose this hotel because we were leaving by train that night and it's very close to Beijing Station, and it turned out to be a wonderful surprise! From the front desk to the restaurant and the laundry room, every staff member we encountered provided service with a smile and handed things over with both hands. My child loved it here too. We'll definitely choose this hotel again next time we're in Beijing. Friends visiting Beijing should come and experience it for themselves!

This guesthouse, tucked away in a hutong, is the former residence of Edgar Snow and perfectly captures the old Beijing hutong charm. I stayed at Beijing Zhong An Hotel for three days, and my overall experience was excellent. The breakfast, especially, was a highlight. It was a Western and Chinese buffet with a rich variety of authentic dishes, catering to both Chinese breakfast preferences and Western light meals. The hotel's location is also superb, close to Beijing Railway Station. There's a small alleyway from the hutong that leads you to the hotel in about a hundred meters, and it's also very near Tiananmen Square, making transportation incredibly convenient. Overall, it's great value for money and highly recommended.

Well, the most pleasant thing is that the reception speaks English and they help a lot, with taxi, excursions and reservations. They helped us with checking in earlier than 12:00. The best thing about the room is the bed itself: the mattress is wonderful and there are two pillows ( buckwheat filled and a memory soft one).

Lovely historic hotel with a large courtyard where people can have drinks and chat together. Some light kids activities are also provided at evenings like Chinese writing initiation. Clean and very easy access from the metro line.

Me and my friend stayed 2 days. The service was good and stuffs were very nice. Breakfast was cheap and delicious. The atmosphere was very cozy. He is the security maybe ☺️

A bit of history there but not great location, tucked in a narrow lane, small room with tiny toilet. Good service. If I can find better options, I'll avoid.
