Nostalgia Hotel (Beijing Tiananmen Square)

Paid about $71 a night for 6 nights, booked hotel pretty last minute and was pleasantly surprised! Spacious room more than other hotels I’ve stayed in China, clean room & comfy bed, pretty clean bathroom. Always great service from the front desk and the housekeeping ladies were so sweet :) No elevator so please keep that in mind, they will help you though of course. Their little shelf in the common area with necessities like wipes, razors, sewing kit and sanitary products was very helpful, they immediately restocked pads/sanitary napkins when I needed them. The little things always stick out! The laundry service was free and convenient. It’s not self service which is fine bc you don’t have to wait for ppl to take their laundry out, they do it pretty quick but try to allow for about a full day. The location was good for us personally because it was right by Qianmen Street, so lots of shopping and food options + bus access. The single relatively minor inconvenience about staying in a hutong is when it rains and when you have to take your suitcase to the door of the hotel or to the taxi. Enjoyed my stay, thank you to the staff!

Small hotel but perfect location. But for first time to book at this hotel, it’s located inside a small alley. If you arrive late at night, the way is poorly lighted but safe anyway.

Great service and location. Staff helped us to carry our luggage up to our door as there was no lift in this hotel. We have free supper of millet porridge every night. There's also free laundry service. It would be great if there was a refrigerator in the room though.
