Exceeding Expectations With the exception of having to clean out the fridge and some of the kitchen ware, it was an excellent time of beautiful views, relaxation and enjoying the kayaking. We did not use the bathroom tub downstairs which needed cleaning. Getting down into the water was a little challenging, but we did enjoy the dock and swimming. I would suggest some safer steps to get down into the water, perhaps right off the dock. Pest control would be advised, as we were constantly killing carpenter ants. Overall, it is a cabin and we did enjoy our stay. The cabin itself exceeded our expectations with the views from the master bedroom and the front porch. Also, there was plenty of parking.

The property was not close to what was advertised. I did not know that we should complain from day one. We just dealt with the problems without complaining because we were not in a position to find another rental. It was advertised to sleep 7. The pull out couch was not usable because there were mouse droppings on the mattress and underneath and behind and on the window sill Also, the mattress was chewed through and rodent urine stained on it. Not a single appliance worked except for the refrigerator . The closet where the cleaning supplies were kept was broken and locked permanently as soon as we closed it. It smelled musty, the beach was not sandy there was no ladder into the lake. The bathroom was dirty, The grill was very dirty with previous meat on it. There was a giant spider web crawling with baby spiders. The blinds in the master bedroom were broken. The ceiling light and fan in the front downstairs bedroom did not work. There were bug infestations on the ceiling in both downstairs bedrooms. The smoke detector had been removed.

problematic The camp was quaint, great kitchen! Unfortunately there was confusion & communication issues with our host not being notified that we had booked property. We received a refund from the host for the nights we didn't stay due to propane running out. The host had intended to have camp closed up the week we had booked.

Awesome stay on Salmon Lake The "Kastle" was great. We had an issue with the wifi which was not resolved. When you are in Maine on a beautiful lake with a family of loons, who needs electronics? Take some pots if you want to cook. Mr. King was responsive when we inquired about the Air Conditioning. There is 1 portable unit downstairs and 1 upstairs. The downstairs bedrooms were a little warm. Overall a great vacation.

Classic Maine Cottage The location of King’s Kastle on Salmon Lake is excellent. The lake is wide at that point and offers great views of the sunrise, particularly from the upstairs master bedroom suite. The lake has less development than others where we have stayed in Maine. We enjoyed seeing loons, eagles, and osprey which are abundant. We went in the latter part of August when the kids’ summer camps had closed, which reduced boat traffic. The cottage is roomy and has a long list of amenities. All appliances were in good working order. The decorations and furnishings were an interesting eclectic mix. I was able to access the internet easily through the owner’s computer but could not get access for my own device. That was not an issue for me since I only required light, routine use, but it would be something to clarify in advance with the host if you are planning to really work from the cottage and need quick access to all your work files on your own PC. We would like to go back to King’s Kastle in 2024 and stay for two weeks instead of one.

Nice little get away, very quiet Our stay was great. Kids enjoyed the water and there was plenty of lawn space to play games.

Audubon haven The view from the property was beautiful. The upstairs was outstanding. We loved the front porch. We ate out there often. Bedroom pillows need to be updated downstairs. The dishwasher was broken and smelly when we arrived. Watching the birds was a favorite pastime. Eveyone liked the kyaks. Thank you. We had a great week weatherwise also
