I often stay at this hotel. It's very good.

A wonderful hotel, although not new, the ocean is visible from all over the territory and rooms) delicious breakfasts and smiling staff! The room had everything you needed. We saw a cockroach in the room once, but this is normal for such a country and climate... it was certainly not pleasant and it’s good that we already went on an excursion 😄

We choose Thaala Bentota as out last resort to a week holiday in Srilanka. The resort is a lush green, vibrant and spacious with facilities like pool, spa and gym along with beach accessible at all the times. Rooms are beach facing, cozy, clean and with basic amenities Food at chatters is good but the taste of buffet was not up to the mark. The food actually caters to guest from Europe in taste and spices so me being Asian missed the spice and salt. The non vegetarian options are more than the vegetarian ones. I could not find srilankan delicacy other than hopper. The sambal spread is good though.

From the moment we arrived the service was exceptional. We came to Thaala Bentota to get married. The staff were all incredibly attentive professional and friendly, they all work really hard. From the event managers (Indunil and Hiran) to the men at the pool, who provide towels etc (particularly Ajith), the room service (Saman and Tharange) who did the most amazing towel art. The food was exceptional. The Loft, a great bar with the most amazing sunsets (Naveen who works in the bar and served us our amazing wedding dinner on the beach). The planning of the wedding was perfect, the attention to detail was first class. Indunil and Hiran communicated well both before our arrival and throughout our stay. All the staff on our wedding day were wonderful. Our wedding meal and champagne breakfast were outstanding. It truly was a perfect day. The reception staff always greeted us with a lovely smile and were always very helpful. The hotel is very clean, the grounds are exceptional. There were other events during our stay and the attention to detail was superb. Nothing was too much trouble. We would highly recommend this hotel, whether for a few nights or for a wedding/event. The beach is 10yrds away and is beautiful. Very clean, not overcrowded at all, it is beautiful. Close by are some lovely restaurants. The train is directly outside and very easy to use. There are always sun loungers available within the grounds of the hotel and both pools were lovely. The spa is lovely and the massages (we had a back massage) were very good. We cannot thank everyone enough at Thaala Bentota for making our wedding day so memorable and how whole stay so very special.

From the moment we arrived, the peaceful atmosphere of the resort set the tone for a perfect day. Nestled in a quiet and scenic setting, the place felt like a true escape from the usual hustle. Our day outing was smooth and well-organized. Hansaji welcomed us warmly and provided clear, helpful information about everything the resort had to offer. Her communication made planning effortless. The entire team went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable—every staff member we interacted with was genuinely kind and attentive. For the quality of the experience, it was an incredible deal. If you're looking for a serene spot with outstanding service and a relaxed vibe, this resort is absolutely worth a visit.

Had an amaaazing stay at Thaala. Great food, great service and good value for money. Starting from welcome to check-out, the staff has been really helpful and always took care of us. Can recommend for someone who loves beach, nature and architecture.

Stayed here for 5 days, here are the pro’s and con’s: Pro’s - Beautiful gardens, lots of sun loungers, pools are kept very clean, Bentota Beach is amazing and goes on for miles. Food is very good, the buffet restaurants have a great variety of food, there is usually a theme each night but you can always get Sri Lankan choices (which is very good). The staff are lovely and cannot do enough for you. Con’s - The hotel is next to the railway line, the trains are very noisy and especially early in the morning blow there air horns to warn anyone at the unmanned crossing near hotel reception that there are coming. These “alarm calls” start at 5.30 and go on for each half hour after that. So if you are a light sleeper you are going to be woken every 30 mins. The “all-inclusive” is anything but, you are restricted to where you can eat and what you can drink. I ordered a coke zero and was told it wasn’t included, you can have other sugary drinks but only sugar free option is water. But not the bottled stuff, no, only out of the tap. The beer needs to be in a glass, no bottled Lion Lager which the other guests drink and is considerably colder than what I get. The cocktails are also very much restricted, there are a choice of about 6-7, my favourite being Pina Colada, but the all inclusive version does not have Malibu in it, you have to pay a few thousand Rupees for the “real” version. Bearing in mind the cost of all inclusive its really not worth it and you feel like the poor relative. Also annoyingly you have to sign a bill for each zero cost purchase, and the staff chase you around with a “bill”. Entertainment in the bar is a series of guys on a keyboard, they are okay, but the Sri Lankan cultural event advertised did not go ahead. Nice hotel, but my advice would be book B&B and buy what you like from the restaurants and bars with the considerable amount you have saved!

we had best quality stay at thaala. it was great view with room and food also very good. room was quality clean with good view. saff was very friendly and helpful.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Thaala. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality stood out. Mr. Ruchira was extremely attentive and made sure we were comfortable throughout, taking care of everything we required with genuine warmth. A special mention to our dinner experience — it was truly memorable. Chef Dilruk personally checked in with us to understand our food preferences and went out of his way to prepare a meal that was not just thoughtful but absolutely delicious. Every dish was flavourful and beautifully presented.

The hotel was very good. Further more the food was amazing as the breakfast buffet has well spread varieties of food to be chosen. The staff is very friendly. specially the reception staff was very polite and helpful. The location was excellent. Everything was very good
