Umine Annex

Thank you Umine for the lovely upgrade to a suite, really enjoyed the experience with in-room sauna, outdoor and indoor onsen bath, and a swimming pool! There’s also a complimentary drinks and snacks area available for guests. Given the hilly location - the hotel offers golf cart transfer to their sister hotel which is within walking distance to the hells of beppu. What needs to be improved: the digital front desk call bell didn’t work and we had to make the trip up to the lobby twice to call for the golf cart to the room for pick up, especially in the heavy rain.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights here in late May 2026. And wow - this place is super impressive! This was by far the best hotel / resort we’ve stayed at during our Japan trip (nearly 3 months of traveling central and southern Japan). The rooms are spacious, extremely clean, luxurious. You have your own private indoor onsen, outdoor onsen, cold plunge tub, sauna and if in the summer, your own private pool. You have a full size kitchen, full western style living room with a TV, full Japanese style living room, multiple toilets and a beautiful bathroom. And a beautiful view overlooking Beppu below! The food is absolutely delicious. The staff and their service are professional, knowledgeable and very welcoming. It’s close to the 7 hells of Beppu attractions so it makes for an easy day trip too. And if you’re looking for a public onsen experience, its sister property is a 5 minute walk from this resort. It’s a newer establishment without many reviews yet, but take my word for it, you won’t be disappointed. We truly loved our stay here and we will definitely be back.

The hotel is so so so so good! The room is so great with private onsen and perfect facilities. Although the location is a bit far if you dont have a car, the hotel provide free pick up service. The lounge service is impressive.
