The room is spacious enough, but the lighting is quite dim, which seems to be a common drawback of most hotels nowadays. The hotel breakfast is decent with a wide variety of choices, but the dinner is really mediocre. Given how remote the location is, the dining options should be more comprehensive to enhance the overall guest experience. Once at the hotel, we hardly wanted to go out for meals. Since it's out of the way and we drove, we preferred to dine at the hotel, but the dinner was truly a bit disappointing. The outdoor view from the hotel is lovely, overlooking Beppu Bay and plumes of rising hot spring steam, which is quite unique. The staff were also very pleasant.

This onsen hotel offers stunning views, and the included semi-buffet breakfast and dinner were also quite good. A special shout-out to Ms. Xu, the Chinese-speaking staff member in the restaurant, who was incredibly enthusiastic and attentive. Her service was excellent, making for a great experience!

A truly perfect vacation experience! The hotel rooms are spacious, well-designed, and meticulously maintained. The hotel's pool and outdoor hot springs offer stunning views, and the facilities are both luxurious and modern. The hotel staff, from the front desk to the restaurant, pool, and concierge, were all professional, friendly, and enthusiastic, while also respecting guest privacy. They provided our entire family with a wonderful experience! For dinner, we opted for à la carte instead of the semi-buffet, and there was a rich selection of Western and Japanese dishes. Both the taste and value for money were excellent.

After reading other reviews, they were all overwhelmingly positive. Having stayed in numerous hotels, the ANA InterContinental Beppu definitely ranks in my top three. First, let's talk about transportation: Beppu Station is quite small. Remember to exit from the West Exit (this was told to us by the hotel shuttle driver; apparently, many international guests wait for a long time at the East Exit only to find out it's the West Exit). The hotel is about a twenty-minute drive away. Next, the service: What was really surprising is that more than half of the hotel staff are non-Japanese. Every single foreign staff member spoke excellent Japanese, with perfect mastery of honorifics. Finally, the room facilities: The onsen (hot spring bath) is small but beautiful. The infinity pool isn't very deep, making it suitable for children. It was still a bit chilly in March, but luckily, there's a warm pool nearby where you can soak for a while. The restaurant offers great value for money. Children aged 6-12 get half price, which is around 2,700 yen. In the evening, there's an all-you-can-drink option for adults at 5,000 yen, including sparkling wine, house wine, shochu, and beer.
