Sadly though the staff are let down by management's lack of attention to detail and their apparent reluctance to spend time, money and effort on critical maintenance eg The rooms telephones do not work at all - to call for room service, I had to dial the hotel landline and ask the switchboard to direct my call to room service! Not at all convenient and despite bring this to the attention of management after my stay in December 2024, the issue peristed in March 2025. A quick fix is recommended."

"I strongly advise against staying at this hotel. I checked in early in the morning to prepare for an event and spent a few hours there. Ultimately, I decided to check out due to the excessive noise from the staff and the thin room door, which failed to block the constant commotion. Additionally, a nearby construction site created relentless banging noises. The hotel provided low-quality, one-ply toilet paper, which is unacceptable for any establishment, and the bedding was unclean with noticeable stains, the rooms are small and bathrooms barely have enough space to comfortably sit on the loo. The location is on the border of Morningside, so also not the best. On a positive note, the security staff member was very friendly and kindly waited with me for my Uber without me having to ask. However, the overall experience was extremely disappointing, and I cannot recommend this place."

"I love this place. It is simple and clean. Nice they have tables and chairs outside by the pool to chill at night. Location is great! It is near Florida Rd. So this place is surrounded by restaurants. The staff is super friendly. I forgot to take photos of the room. The room is clean and I love the room design. Great value for money too! "We stayed at Dei Gracia Guest House for approximately 28 days during a visit to Durban after booking privately with the owner. At the time of booking we were shown photos of the guest house and our understanding was that this would be the accommodation. A few days before arrival we received a message welcoming us to the “holiday house,” which we understood to be part of the same property. During our stay we spent time in both the holiday house and the guest house. The property consists of several buildings on the same premises, including the owner’s residence at the front, the guest house behind it, and the holiday house further back. During the stay we raised a number of maintenance and cleanliness concerns. These included a bathroom door that came off before being repaired, a shower that did not drain properly and did not have a shower curtain, and mould in some areas. We also observed signs of pests during the stay, including cockroaches and droppings in drawers. On one occasion a cockroach was found inside the toaster. After raising these concerns we were temporarily moved to another unit on the property while some issues were being addressed. That unit did not have cooking facilities available to us. Travellers may wish to confirm which specific unit they will be staying in and the facilities available before confirming a booking."
