The IXL Apartment exceeded our expectations in every way - the photos on the sites (& here) don't really do it justice - & we absolutely loved our stay. The staff were fantastic: all helpful & friendly - giving us directions, restaurant tips etc - they worked hard to make our visit go well. Thanks to them all, especially to Alisa who always had a smile: welcoming us back in the afternoons, keen to chat about where we'd been (she made our trip to Berlin even more special with her knowledge & charm). The Apartment is large (3 bedrooms, 2 large bathrooms - with walk-in showers & a bath in the main one, a guest loo, kitchen, utility room, open-plan lounge-dining-kitchen area, 2 balconies & a long, wide hallway) & the décor is stunning. Large full-length windows give you an all-round view of the immediate area, with comfy sofas & tub chairs to sit in to enjoy them. All of the soft furnishings in the Apartment are of very good quality. The beds are big & comfy - plenty of spare bedding if needed. There's a large balcony area outside of bedroom 1, with top-spec furniture & incredible views, & there's a second, smaller balcony outside bedroom 2 with a cute bar-style table & chair set. The kitchen was immaculate & fitted with all of the facilities you'd expect. The bathrooms were stunning - a joy to use - with wonderful luxury toiletries to enjoy. Other thoughtful features in the Apartment: a brilliant air-conditioning system (which was most welcome as temperatures reached 102° in the shade while we were there!); a utility room (with airers, iron, laundry basket etc); waiting for us in the fridge were some bottled water & some wine; the building has a large & fast elevator to take guests up to the top floor; plenty of large fluffy towels in abundance; sewing kits; high quality glassware & stylish crockery & great WIFI etc. On-site we also had access to handy laundry facilities. As far as location, the Apartment looks out over a small park in one direction & also enjoys far-reaching views of the city. The immediate area has a relaxed atmosphere & lacks the bustle & crowds found more centrally - this was important to us. However, we were still just a short tram or underground train ride away from all of the usual landmarks (Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, Berlin Wall Memorial, Natural History Museum etc. & Berlin’s Hauptbahnhof) so it was quick & easy to get to wherever we wanted to go. We were close to many good restaurants; coffee shops, grocery stores etc. (& very near a lovely ice cream parlour - Eismieze which we visited most days!). We were sad to leave but have no doubts that we’ll return to this wonderful place.
