Manor House Hotel Holy Island

Overall was a good one night stay. But £140 for a double room with a bed you could feel the springs and small very dated room and tiny bathroom I feel was overpriced but I guess it’s the area. The friendliness of the staff made up for the disappointment in the room. Good breakfast.

Been coming here to eat for many years always been pleased with our visits but sadly not this time . The whole place is desperately in need of a good clean , every where was gruby and dusty , menus sticky , glasses were dirty and not sure when the carpet had last been hoovered . I certainly wouldn’t like to be staying here . Very few people in eating , staff seemed disinterested . Food was nice but overpriced & menu is different to that advertised on their website .

Great location and friendly team. However found the hotel tired and unloved. Rubbish throughout the outside area, umbrellas would be good addition. Rooms outback get noise from kitchen and staff. Breakfast options very limited if you don't want cooked. Suggest a full refurb in the quieter months.

We stayed here for a week in October 2019 and had a good experience, so we went back for six nights this summer. The location is fantastic. The staff were great, friendly and helpful. The hot breakfasts were good every morning and I tried almost everything including the kippers. The buffet disappointing. Sliced bread, a few yoghurts and some cereals. Long life fruit juices from concentrate and often no jug of water. We also had all of our dinners in the hotel. I was largely satisfied with every meal, and again I had something different every night - but the catch of the day twice - once salmon, once bream. Both fish were well-cooked but I am incredulous about them being locally caught as claimed. The salmon was definitely farmed. Food prices were on the higher side of average I would say. The real let down was the cleanliness of the dining room. I don't think it was hoovered the whole time we were there. Every time I walked in there seemed to be more and more crumbs and stuff to walk through. The dishwasher needs cleaning or servicing because the cutlery and glasses for juice in the morning had a residue on them which made them look a bit horrible, bit offputting. The tables seemed to be clean but there was a slight stickiness to them and the tablemats that is a bit unpleasant. Like they'd been sprayed and wiped with some sort of solution that had been left to dry on. The cups for tea and coffee were placed rim down on a dirty wooden tray that didn't get wiped for days. These were really my gripes, my husband and daughter didn't notice or care. We were in room 2 which is on the first floor. It has a king size bed and a single. There is no lovely view from this room but it was the one with the right amount of beds for us. Remembering that the building is quite old, I was largely ok with the size, cleanliness and decor of the room, and the beds were quite comfortable if a little squeaky! Water pressure in the small shower cubicle was good. The only problems were the slow-draining sink and the broken shaver socket. It would have been nice to have had some bottled water provided. The staff were absolutely lovely and were happy to help with any requests even though they are obviously working very hard at this time of year. Maybe they are a little overstretched so some of the details get missed? I would stay here again, but not in the summer holidays, and in the hope of better attention to detail in the dining room.

Visited the Island today and popped into the Manor House Hotel for lunch. Service was excellent and the fish and chips we all had were the best I have ever tasted....absolutely delicious. The batter on the fish was thin, crispy and ruffled....the sign of a very good beer batter. I would certainly recommend this restaurant and know where we will be heading for a meal on our next visit to Holy Island. Thank you to all the staff and especially, the chef!!

We popped in with our dog, who was made to feel welcome by staff, whilst visiting for the day . We ordered 4 different meals, burger meal, coronation chicken stottie, homemade fish fingers and southern fried chicken. All meals were presented lovely, tasted delicious and were piping hot. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend 10/10. Thank you 😁

Friendly service and good selection of drinks. Much better than the Ship Inn with its rude landlord and ooor customer service

The views from this hotel if you ask for a seaview room are amazing. The hotel is average, but for a couple of nights its fine. Its tired and needs money spent on it, but the staff are good and the food is ok too…pub…..fish and chips style. Theres not that much accommodation on holy island , and this probably tops most of it. I would stay there again, its a wonderful island to experience , just dont expect too much. One thing I thought was a wrong was it was a baking hot summer day and they dont provide any water in the bedrooms to drink. I had to buy a bottle and at £6 i though that was outrageous!!! So take your own water.

Staff were friendly and check in was very easy. We had room 4 which had amazing views of the coast and castleand the large windows provided a welcomed breeze on hot days, breakfast was pleasant and the food offered for other meals wzs your usual pub faire. There is a bar downstairs which was a nice place to sit after a day of walking. The only cons was the noise on the second night from the pub next door, but to be fair it was the night England were playing in the world cup and the fact you have to pay for parking when you get there, we were under the impression we had booked with parking. However, these are minor things, i would definitely reccomed staying here, ask for room 4 you wont be disappointed.
