The Castle Hotel

I do not like to leave a bad review but in this case I feel it necccessary. I can only make two positive statements one it is close to the train station and the room was a fair size The rest of this story is not so good I had no heat at night until 6:00 a.m. I was trying to work and the temperature was close to the outside temperature of 4 degrees C inside my room. I went to office three times to try and find someone to help there was no one available and NO information. When I went down for the breakfast I found it was sorely lacking with cereal and some old fruit and bread, nothing hot except for tea and coffee . I asked the staff about a hot breakfast he said oh no that's not included. The price this room was not cheap it was the upper end of what I usually pay . I expected more they did not deliver. Not a good choice.

Nice little pub. No food on Monday nights. Big rooms and bathroom for England

Lovely place too stay very clean and it’s central too everything right across from train station didn’t have far to walk lovely riverside walks on your door step where u can explore a broken castle very nice views and also lovely veiw from our hotel window too my little girl didn’t want too go home very nice would 100% recommend!!

Good location and service, good room, good view, The only fly in the ointment was that there is no lift

A pub and hotel all in one. We had the studio or 'flat' on the top floor. The room was comfortable, although a slightly unusual configuration with one internal bedroom having a lock on the door. The main problem was the shower, which was either red hot or freezing cold, with low water pressure. The B&B only included a continental breakfast which was fine. It cost a £9 upgrade to have a full English which we didn't try. The pub was lively with a good atmosphere. Beds were reasonably comfortable.

Located on edge of town next to railway station. Nice hotel with friendly staff. A really nice bar to have drinks in. Breakfast area ticks all the boxes, nicely cooked. . 👍🏻 Rooms are clean with tea/coffee facilities and complimentary bottles of water. The room floor slopes slightly which caused a few 'staggers' Defo go back.

I confess that I was a bit disappointed when I first arrived - but the room was big and well appointed with an updated bathroom, and changed my tune., it’s walking distance to everything in town. It wasn’t hot inside during the heat wave, hurrah! The building itself is a bit shabby but the room was great. Very noisy at night so bring earplugs. We were lucky to get a parking spot in the street in front, but the train station car park is the backup. Breakfast was basic continental fare and kept us going.
