The Marmara Taksim

Sometimes it takes one interaction to ruin something and well my experience at this hotel took same turn. I had booked a corner room facing the Bosphorus through American Express. When I arrived, I asked for a room with two twin beds and the receptionist very rudely said he was certain my booking came through Expedia and that he was certain Expedia explains those rooms don’t have twin bed options and “it is your responsibility to pay attention!” I explained to him that American Express might book through Expedia but regardless the American Express booking page did not say king beds were the only option. He kept insisting that I booked through Expedia and the only option I had was to go with a room facing the city or pay extra for an upgrade. Even though I payed for the more expensive view, I ended up with the view facing the city. I later checked with booking.com and as a matter of fact they do offer corner room with twin beds facing the Bosphorus! You know so many times you check in hotels and out of curtesy they offer you an upgrade when a mistake is made but not here! The guy had to prove he was right and was very rude about it!

Without question The Artisan is one of the finest of hotels i have had the pleasure to stay in . From the first moment of arrival I was greeted by Serkan and his incredible staff members . Ibrahim is the most charming and polite if waiters and totally professional with his approach to all my needs . Fatih works behind the bar and works with such a wonderful positive attitude . He is an outstanding young man .

Great rooms, really nice staff and insane view from restaurant! Only thing not working is the cleaning in the pool and fitness area and one guy in the staff is rude and should find something else to do if you ask me. However its only one guy and the rest of the staff is kind and provide high service. For the price its really something!
Etiz Hotels & Residences

Absolutely the worst hotel experience that I have ever had. I travel for a living and have stayed in all kinds of hotels all over the world but this one is the worst. I took my wife for a 4 night vacation in Istanbul and booked this hotel because of its close proximity to Taksim Square. Firstly it may be near to Taksim Square but it is down a very steep hill and getting up to the level of Taksim may well be a problem if you are not fit. Secondly the cleaning of the room was non existent, for the 5 days we were there the room wasn't cleaned once and towels/bedding wasn't changed. The absolute worst part was the air conditioning, every night we went to bed and it was working but we woke during the night because of the extreme heat to find that all electricity to the room was cut off. I went down to the reception to tell them and they switched it back on. On the second and third nights this happened several times until they finally admitted on the third night that because of complaints from the neighbours they were cutting the power to the room while we were asleep. When we arrived back at the hotel on night 3 we found that they had turned off the AC and removed the remote control for it so that we couldn't switch it on. I went down to reception to demand that they give me back the remote contol which they did but the whole situation was very unsavoury. I will never stay here again and would advise anybody else to avoid this place at all costs.

We were really pleased with the hotel when we checked in, the staff were friendly and the room was clean. We were looking forward to using the spa facilities. When we got back after a meal we could hear the music from the 'rooftop restaurant' all the way down the street. And in the reception. And in our room. We were on the 4th floor so not far from the 6th floor 'restaurant' and called to reception to find out if it was a party. First, they hung up on us. Next, they said it was a bar and the music would be turned down at midnight. It was not. It eventually stopped at 2am. We also could smell cigarettes in our room despite being in a no smoking floor. Not sure why there were ashtrays in the room? Yes, they did offer to swap our room for a lower floor, but I didn't take the offer because we could hear the music from reception the previous night and also I didn't want to lose another night's sleep or have the pleasure of trying to find a different hotel at night if we'd stayed and it was still too loud. Traffic noise isn't an issue for us. A restaurant that sounds like a nightclub is. Especially when the hotel manager says it's not a nightclub and that the noise coming from it is 'reasonable'. If you value your sleep, choose somewhere else.
Gezi Hotel Bosphorus

It has been said that since I have been stuck in Ctrip for a few times, I dare not book a house anymore (Ctrip is a ghost, you obviously paid the money for a good house, Ctrip gave the hotel a poor report), and booked the cheapest room in this hotel. I did not expect that the room was facing the flower wall, not bad. Hotel service is absolutely top notch. When I rented it, someone came out and took the baggage. What surprised me was that I had not checked in yet, and the security guard at the door actually called my name. The hotel lobby is small but very clean. Handsome service is first class. Will stay again next time.
