One&Only Moonlight Basin

Our 5 days at One&Only Moonlight Basin was one of our favorite trips to date. The serene environment, impeccable design, and attention to detail throughout the property doesn’t go unnoticed. We felt like we had a private lodging in a way, as it felt like home away from home but surrounded by mountains, snow, and friendly support for anything you’d need. Highly recommend staying here if skiing! We enjoyed their private ski rental and private gondola to access Lone Mountain (the ultimate luxury experience)! All of the restaurants were delicious with beautiful ambiance- they also had an amazing spa with unexpected oxygen hookups post massage, and the most beautiful onsen and indoor pool. The Moonshack and Dear Josephine were our favorite places to enjoy a handcrafted beverage and immerse ourselves in nature. A few things I attempted to order were not stocked or ran out( a few things at Wildwood and -The Landing) but I’m sure over time this will be addressed. There is also an observatory nearby where you can reserve a private viewing. I found this out through social media, was able to book a reservation through my resort host, but it ended up being canceled due to weather. The only thing we truly hope irons out in the future is their provided shuttles around the property (lodge to dinner to Moonshack etc) as that’s not entirely reliable - as well as transportation to town (20 min away) expect to pay over $300 round trip. Certainly a surprise there are no other options once you arrive. Will be getting a rental car next stay, as truly we are looking forward to a summer visit to experience a different set of memories. Gorgeous stay, gorgeous place, and the energy here truly felt revitalizing, restoring, and romantic. I had the pleasure of staying at the One&Only Moonlight Basin during their opening weekend, after booking rooms for myself and my husband as well as some of our friends and clients (I also moonlight as a travel advisor) under the First Reveal promotion. We have visited several One&Only properties around the world and love the brand - from the hallmark hand-on-heart hospitality, to the beautiful design, sense of place, and thoughtful finishes - a stay at O&O is always memorable in the best possible way. Their first U.S. property absolutely lived up to those expectations. Our room was gorgeous, spacious and intentional in every detail. It was also large enough to have our friends join us for a nightcap or to review plans for the day. The hotel itself is equally stunning, with ample space for every guest to find their own corner to curl up with a book and a blanket or a delicious drink near the fire. Everything we ate was phenomenal, with the standout being our meal at Akira Black. Chef even stopped by our table to chat and enjoy a cheers as we moved between courses. We brought some wine from our own cellar to enjoy as a celebration, but we needn't have bothered as the wine list on site was extensive and exceptional. Our favorite part of the entire property was the Moon Shack (aka the Whiskey Shack) in the woods, where we invariably finished every night. The pictures, charming as they are, don't do the little bar justice. Located out in the woods and only accessible via (heated, luxury) ATVs, the most incredible thing about the Shack is the smell: of the old wood cabin that was shipped in from Idaho alongside the scent of rosemary being torched for a craft cocktail. They should really make a candle. The bar manager Erica, and every bartender we met made us feel welcome, kept the amazing drinks flowing, and shared some of the local lore (Boots the Fox even made an appearance!). The entire staff went out of their way to make sure we had an amazing stay and we can't recommend the hotel, restaurant and bars enough. Can't wait to go back!

Our last stay at a One&Only property was more than 10 years ago and was outstanding in every way, so we looked forward to our stay at Moonlight Basin. We came in with high expectations and were not disappointed. The thoughtfulness of the staff is incredible; we were blown away by the touches they added to make our stay memorable. Our hosts were gracious and accommodating, and all the dining experiences were excellent. The property itself is stunning in every way. We had a fantastic stay and can’t wait to return.
