Very nice hotel with friendly staff and lovely ambience in a beautiful small town. Nice lively bar and great evening meal. My only criticism is the breakfast offering which included thin “American style” Bacon overdone so that it shattered when attempting to cut in to it.

An amazing, characterful pub with quirky rooms, spotlessly clean, fluffy towels, super comfortable bed and really good value. We had dinner in the evening great atmosphere, good pub food, great breakfast and friendly staff. I thoroughly recommend.

Great meal for Vegetarian Great service Had lovely veggie meal after my last review when all I had was starters due to limited menu of mushrooms which am allergic to !! Last evening had lovely pasta type dish which was delicious Thank you to staff

The inn is situated on a very noisy road and the rooms are directly above the outside tables of the pub . The room was uncomfortably hot and very small. The ceiling is very low and I bumped my head several times . Staff was pretty nice but the hotel should be marketed as a motel , the expectations created by the owners advertising was not met at all.

Best roast dinner I’ve ever had in a pub! Honestly this place is unmatched. The amount of food they give you for the price is incredible. The staff are very attentive and it’s such a lovely old pub. I ordered the lamb and they basically gave me half a sheep, it was huge and just so so well done. I can’t fault it. Crispy potatoes, so many pubs get them so wrong but they were crispy and fluffy. The Yorkshire was insane. If you’re thinking about going, please please go!’

We stayed for one night at the Crown. We booked last minute, so probably got the smallest room. We got a good deal for B&B on Booking. Com (£98). Although the room was small, it was lovely. It was very clean and had great bits in it, like coffee, teas, biscuits, bottles of water and even a bottle of beer. The shower was great too. There was a good choice for breakfast, which was served quickly and very nice. The staff were all polite and on the ball. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would come again.

The staff were unfailingly pleasant. The Crown is on a busy roundabout and it is noisy. We never had any hot water in the basin despite speaking to the staff. Breakfast is served in the bar area and the housekeeping staff are vacuuming and cleaning up at the same time! The duvet was very thick and we were far too hot, we had to take the cover off the duvet and use it as a sheet. The bathroom was not cleaned during our two day stay, they just made the bed. Dust balls were under the side table in the room and there was still an auction house sticker on its leg. The evening meal was ok. Should we travel to the area again we will be staying somewhere else!

Decent pub with rooms, great team, limited menu but something for most people, well coocked and presented. A specials board would be a good addition. Surprisingly good rooms given the age of the building. Would be happy to return if only to enjoy a couple of pints of HSB.

We went for a family Easter meal. The starters were a big disappointment. £22 for a sharer of meats and bread and olives. 4 slices of bread , a few picked gherkins, and a few olives , with a few slices of cured meats. It should be more around the £10 price. We also had the calamari, which was undercooked. The mains were nice , we had the roast lamb , but there were not many vegetables on the plate, and only 2 potatoes. If you're paying £22 for a meal, you would expect a decent portion of the trimmings that go with your roast dinner. The sevice was OK but not great. We had to get the servers' attention quite a few times. To ask for things they had forgotten. And to ask for more drinks ect. We were also not asked once if everything was OK with our food.
