Went to the Astor Hotel with my partner and our friend for a weekend break at the end of July 2022. We were very excited for the visit and had done extensive research on Google, Booking and TripAdvisor prior to making the booking as we had seen very positive reviews and photos. Upon arrival, we were met with a gentleman fixing key lockers by the main door and a “hostess” talking to someone over the phone without initially acknowledging us. When she got off the phone eventually, she took us inside and said “oh I thought you weren’t coming” instead of asking how our journey went or welcoming us. I asked to sort out the payment and she advised it had already been taken out of my account at midnight which I did not agree to according to my *********** reservation. The payment had gone out of a credit card with high APR therefore given me an inconvenience. We went to our rooms and rushed to get ready to go out for meal and to see more of Blackpool. Initially we realised that the rooms lacked what we had seen online and booked for: little things like a nice trey, bath robes and neat environment. Whilst getting ready we tried to use a hairdryer in the so called “double deluxe room” but it appeared broken. This is something we flagged up to the hostess and were told that they needed replacing and that some were due to be ordered. Both Friday and Saturday night the rooms were very hot and the fans that were provided just blew the hot air around. Furthermore there was a lot of noise coming from the street. In terms of attention to detail or there lack of, the soaps dispensers were 1/4 full, toilet paper was scares and there was visible wear and tear across the furniture. We noticed visible marks of blood and questionable marks on the bedding. As per the provided photographic evidence there was dust everywhere including television, bed and rest of the furnishing. When we left, the three of us went past member of staff who was on duty at reception. We left our key on the top and they did not bother to acknowledge a single one of us. I then went out of the premises and went for breakfast as that was something they didn’t provide, despite the way above average for Blackpool price. It ended up costing me extra £8 per day to get breakfast. I used the time to write a brief review on Google outlining my concerns in bullet point list. I wrote: Took the payment before arrival; Hosting was non existent & we were made to feel unwelcome; Lack of basic hygiene; Terrible value for money. Minutes later the hostess responded with statements that were factually incorrect so we called her to have a discussion and were faced with more backlash and rudeness. In fact there was no accountability and she rushed to end the call. Definitely do not recommend this hotel and will not be returning. For the price of £330 I’d at least expect a clean room.

We arrived on Thursday the 3rd of August and when we arrived we were informed that the rooms we booked through *********** had not been forwarded to her when the owner had taken over the hotel in December, when she found out what had happened and she was right on her phone to help us find new accommodation which she done very well. We cant say how much we apricated how much she helped us, so once again thank you so much. Bill, Gogs and Greg, x

I've had to resubmit this review because the owner keeps reporting it.

I chose the Astor based on the facilities, and guest offering (which were non-existent). What you need to know is that the previous reviews all relate to when Mark and Martyn ran the hotel. They are no longer there. The hotel is no longer a B & B - it's a B - a bed. There are no facilities here other than a room. There is no tv lounge, no bar, no breakfast, no restaurant, no towel robes, no lovely welcome tray with chocolates and brownies, no flowers and hanging baskets outside. Even if you look up here, you will see a breakfast, restaurant, bar are still stated as on offer. Don't be misled by the sites. So, onto our stay, we booked a deluxe double for £170. The welcome we had was a bit haphazard, but we dropped our things off and changed and went out and spent very little time there. It wasn't until late on day 2 that we had chance to look at the room. It was thick with dust, on every furniture surface, tv, bed frame, units, we have had photos but the owner keeps taking negative reviews down. The hairdryer was broken and thick with muck at the back. I did bring this up but it was never replaced. Carpet dirty with heart confetti on the floor presumably from a previous guest. Bed had blood and other stains on it. It was comfy enough with nice pillows so I did sleep ok apart from external noise. There was just nothing special about the room for the price with no facilities, it's terrible value for Blackpool. There does seem to be a shift in the business model here, and key boxes were being fitted outside so maybe this will even become a contactless hotel? Look, we did personally bring our issues up around the room problems, there are notices all in reception and one about bad reviews, but the owner just built a wall of defence. The professional reply would have been to apologise and take on board the comments. The photos don't lie, the room was filthy. I also don't lie, I've worked in travel so I understand great service, and am a travel blogger. I have over 500 reviews you can check out, all honest and accurate. I can't recommend the hotel in its current state, the advertisements don't match the offering and it's not good value, in fact I feel robbed of £170 and the stay ruined our visit to Blackpool. Summer turned to winter at this hotel.. and it's a bleak one.

Stayed here with friends and what an absolute pleasure it was, we was welcomed in by Clair who gave us lots of advice and places to go, she showed us to the rooms and helped us with our cases, The rooms are very cosy and clean, lovely decor. We had a slight issue with our tv but Clair ensured it was fixed straight away and couldn’t apologise enough, and the kettle stopped working ( maybe I have too many cups of tea ) but was sorted immediately, They don’t do breakfast anymore but this is fully explained to you on arrival and given a list of places to go with discounts, The outside area is lovely to sit out and watch the world go by . We really enjoyed our stay and we will be returning , Clair and the staff can not do enough for you even to the last min of leaving they helped with our cases and stored them for us while we was shopping until it was time for our train, Thanks so much for everything see you soon

Length of stay - two nights Location is great I have been excited for a weekend away for the last few months as I've not managed to get away in the last few years. I have been saving my spare money for this break away and feel extremely disappointed at what we received for the money. My friends booked this stay for us (please note, it is just a bed and not breakfast) based on previous reviews when it was under different ownership. It cost me (as a single person) £150 for two nights for a basic double room (room 11). Friends were in a separate room. My main issue was the cleanliness and temperature of the room. The photos included are bedsheets with stains, dusty side units and general uncleanliness. Since covid I take my own wipes everywhere but surely this should be top priority for business owners. I did try to feed this back to the owner, Clare, via a phone call whilst we were still in Blackpool (mainly to give her the opportunity to put it right) but unfortunately was met with a wall of defense rather than an apology or acceptance. I asked Clare if she felt the cleanliness levels were acceptable and she replied "yes". I think that says it all really.
