Asure Phoenix Motor Inn ★★★★
"There is no dissatisfaction, the room is clean and comfortable. Originally booked for 2 nights, but due to the weather the day before, the whale watching trip in kaikoura was postponed, canceled for one night, and the phone and hotel discussions were also very happy to promise to change one night."
St Leonards Vineyard Cottages ★★★★
"We stayed in the Woolshed which was a magical experience in every way including popping out through the kitchen window every morning to enjoy breakfast in the rising sun. Sharon and Jason are the most generous of hosts not just with the accommodation offering, but with everything else including top tips on what to do locally and further afield. Breakfast ingredients are truly farm to table, eggs from their hens, honey from their bees, homemade granola (so moorish I could spoon from the jar!), yogurt and bread. We also picked fresh peaches to enjoy from the sheep paddock when we went to feed Buster the Sheep and his retired friends. Could not recommend a stop here highly enough and it is so central for exploring the famous vineyards."

Sundowner Motel
"Privately owned, friendly owners. The room was roomy and clean. There is a sitting area out the back patio doors which was good. The outdoor furniture is a bit older. The bed and linens were good for a 2 night stay. We just needed a place to stay while we toured the area. Havelock where the postal boat tour is just a 35 minute drive away. There is a Countdown grocery store right across the street which was convenient. There are no restaurants within walking distance."

193 Aorangi Manor Motel
"Very outdated motel for the price to stay per night. First impression was clean. But only had towels replaced each day, no cleaning in room. Bed not even made or changed. Was cold, but heaters old and noisy, so could not leave on over night. "

Blenheim Palms Motel
"We were intending to travel to Blenheim for the Omaka Airshow, but due to extreme weather conditions, had to cancel. The Omaka Airshow has since also cancelled their Event. I phoned the Motel and also sent emails requesting a partial refund or a credit. This is the last response I received. They volunteered the Pilot info to me then turn around and say, ‘it is none of my Business’!! Also them calling me ‘entitled’ I don’t believe their response has done any favours for their future business. Pam, My husband replied to you previously before I had chance to respond but I would also like to add…. In regards to the rooms occupied by the pilots - they were intelligent enough to have travel insurance in place, so we will still be reimbursed for their stay (not that is any of your business) and as I previously mentioned via email and in our terms and conditions on out website this is exactly the reason why we recommend our guests take out their own personal travel insurance to cover themselves in the event that something like this happens. You do not seem to be taking in board the fact that this is our livelihood and our families ability to survive. Many small hospitality businesses such as ours have been on the brink of losing everything post covid and quite frankly, I am sick of entitled people such as yourself thinking they can continue to take advantage of our good nature and not stick to the terms and conditions they have agreed to when booking because it no longer suits their situation, and they have not been smart enough to ensure their own plans have been protected. I do not see how the cancellation of a major event such as this should affect me and my families livelihood. You decided not take the necessary precautions to protect yourself (as we have with our cancellation policy) should something like this happen, this is NOT OUR FAULT. Bottom line is that I will not let my business and my family be punished because you failed to protect yourself. We will not be entering into any further communication with you regarding this and, we are well within our rights to charge you in full. I hope that this serves a lesson to you as to the importance of travel insurance. And hope that you think not just of yourself but also of the small businesses that you decisions may effect in future. It also wouldn’t hurt for you to spend a bit of time working on your bedside manner - you certainly hasn’t done you any favours. Ruth"
