Booked for 3 nights to attend a Rammstein concert in nearby Gelsenkirchen. A little out of the way (11km from Gelsenkirchen itself) but a really laid back atmosphere. As my German is very rusty, I was grateful to see that several members of reception spoke English. Although their website states they have a restaurant, it appears that it’s only a continental breakfast and no lunches or dinners available. Anyone who has travelled to Germany, knows that a Sunday basically means hardly anywhere is open. As a disabled traveller, walking into the local area was out of the question, so had to scramble to check food delivery apps to see who would actually be able to deliver. This was frustrating to those who don’t drive in European countries or have the ability to walk very far. However, the staff were very helpful and did try to assist where and whenever possible. Should I return to this beautiful area of Germany, I would still wish to stay here, just knowing that you can breakfast here and eat out or have takeout delivered for lunch and dinner.

The facilities are old and the state of the bathroom shows it. The hotel is located in a quiet area and well connected to public transport and supermarkets.

€165 for a more than basic room! The bathroom smells musty. We are a business group of 9 people, so we have 9 single rooms, each at €165 a night with breakfast. The only difference is that some have the superior room and some have the crappy standard room for the same price. That doesn't exactly lead to satisfaction and is completely unacceptable in my opinion! The business package price includes WiFi, which doesn't work in the room.

Modern, simple and functional furnishings, friendly staff. The hotel only has rooms with electric heating and no air conditioning. Ideal for city breaks and trade fair visitors. Also popular with business travellers and fitters. Not a star-rated hotel, but a functional chain hotel with good transport links for drivers. Shops and restaurants are within walking distance.

The hotel is already getting a bit old. Arrival is easy and there are enough parking spaces. Depending on the time of arrival, check-in can take from short to very long. One week 5 minutes, the next week almost 45 minutes. According to the statement, the lack of staff is to blame. You might then want to think about a free drink or something similar for the waiting guest. A nice gimmick at just under 35°C. What does the Hotel Wattenscheid want to be, a Tryp or a Melia. It was probably once a tryp hotel that was reflagged to Melia. The Tryp names can still be found everywhere. The rooms are large, as is the bathroom, the furnishings in the rooms are from the last decade and are worn out. The rooms themselves are not air-conditioned and are therefore very warm given the high outside temperatures. A very good breakfast buffet with a large selection is offered in the morning.

A business hotel that is a little old and a little worn in some areas. Some of the rooms we stayed in were very poorly cleaned. The mattresses in my room were the right firmness for me. The staff were very friendly and helpful. If I were to visit Wattenscheid again, I would prefer a different hotel.

As I said, everything was fine. We'd be happy to come back if we're nearby, unfortunately some guests can't leave quietly in the morning, so everyone wakes up. But that's not the hotel's problem. Kind regards H.Wilch
