Grand Hotel Majestic Gia' Baglioni

Bologna City Center Bologna|0.38km from Via dell'Indipendenza
The hotel is located on the main road of Bologna, across the road from the Cathedral. On the day of the check-in, a grand religious celebration is held, as it is close to the road and you can walk through the road to feel. The room is large, especially the bathroom, and it is no exaggeration to say that you can dance inside. There is an emergency alarm rope near the toilet and the shower. I have pulled two times in the unknown. I have to call the security immediately and need no assistance. It is quite professional and safe. The bathroom accessories are famous Italian brands, the quality is very good, they are brought back to China after they have not been used up, especially like it. The breakfast room was slightly crowded and the dishes were average, but there were even porridge dishes. Later, I learned that there were Japanese monks and local religious groups to hold a friendly relationship and cooperation ceremony during the stay. It was very interesting to walk from the hotel. The restaurant waiter also asked us about Chinese tastes and Chinese cuisine. Although the English communication between the two sides could not convey the essence of Chinese food, they communicated clearly with the help of the body language and imagination. The breakfast was really good. A cultural exchange platform, the restaurant waiter is also very friendly. In general, although it is not the best hotel in Italy, it is also a great place to experience.

The first night they gave me room 119 which did not have a working air conditioning and one of the electricity circuits was faulty. They preceded to tell me the air conditioner was working at highest level and they would call an electrician tomorrow to fix the issue. At midnight the room temperature was 30 degrees and the night manager said “bologna has an air pollution issue where the room temperature has to be the same as the outdoor temperature”. I researched this and found nothing, the other day mangers thought it was not true snd I asked hotel Regina next door who never heard of it. I slept 3 hours that night thanks to their terrible service and lies. Next day no electrician is called snd they showed me 3 rooms to move me too all with functional air conditioning at 17 degrees so the managers lied to me. I asked the night manager and he said sone rooms are new and have the poorly functioning air conditioner and the old rooms have the cold normal air conditioner. If that’s true do not book as bologna is very hot in the summer. From what I gather the mangers who told me these lies were simply untrained. I spoke with the hotel manager on Monday who issued no apology and the “making it right” was me paying city taxes snd no refund. I’ve travelled for 2 months in Italy and Spain all too 3 or 4 star hotels and this was by far the worst customer service. Truthfully I’m pretty relaxed so if they just told me they ran out of rooms and I’ll just be in room 119 (furnace) for a night I wouldn’t have complained but they preceded to lie to me and not treat me with any respect. Hotels to me are just rooms but the customer service is important. In Venice I had a room with a broken window handle and a safety deposit box that had 4 numbers not working but their service was atkeast good so I wouldn’t complain so much. Just do not book this hotel I feel their rooms were hardly better than a 3 star snd their customer service unbelievably bad, the 2 blonde woman were really nice. There’s a bald small bloke who gave the bad room that was so rude and when I complained about the room says “I can’t do anything”, overnight manager who just has no idea what his doing and hotel manager who did not even apologise. Please do not book as you may encounter the same issues I had in the heat of bologna.

Nice modern hotel, in the middle of the old town half a block off of Via dell'Indipendenza..so you are close to everything. As it’s a modern hotel, it has all the appointments with a good size desk, plenty of outlets, comfortable bed, large bathroom etc. Yes the plastic furniture is a bit much, and some is not really functional, but its still a great room, location, and service. Our room was very large with a balcony. Bed was comfortable, service was superb, and wifi was fine. I had a big birthday while I was there and my sons called the hotel from the US to arrange for a birthday cake and note to be delivered to our room. We got back to our room before dinner and there was this lovely decorated cake, display, note, big candle etc. The hotel did a great job and clearly went out of their way to make this happen. BRAVO! There was no parking at the hotel, but there is a garage just around the block that they have an arrangement with. Just reserve ahead with the hotel. The photos on the hotel website are indicative of the rooms and hotel A couple suggestions to those staying at the hotel: 1. dropping off your luggage - - the street the hotel is on is a very narrow street blocked at one end where you would walk on to Via dell'Indipendenza. In driving to the hotel to drop our bags off google maps had me turning right on to their street, Via dell’ Orso, from Viccola Quartirolo…do not do that. you are not supposed to drive there, plus its a one way (left only) and its very hard to make the right turn anyway given the narrow street and restaurant on the corner. The restaurant people told us to back up back on to Viccola Quartirolo…. Then make a left and then back up down the street to the hotel. When it was time to leave, we rolled our bags down to where the restaurant was and then I went and got the car and stopped right there when I made the left turn . 2. room darkening - the first night at the hotel I did not see any shades to stop the light coming in from the balcony. The next morning I realized there were shutter doors to close on the balacony …which I did not notice at night. Overall, between the location, service, and accommodations, I would highly recommend staying at the hotel.

Stayed here for two nights in a single bed room. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. the shower was in a bit of an akward setting, but nothing too bad. Water pressure was good and plenty of hot water. This place is a ten minute walk from the train station and ten minutes from the hotel to the Main Duomo Square. Staff was excellent, they arranged a taxi for me for a really early flight from the airport, it was about a 15 minute drive from the hotel to the airport. Really cant go wrong if you need a good location and clean room for a good price.

We really liked this hotel despite having got off to a poor start. The little lobby is nice with the cute staircase, despite the initial shabby street entrance. When we returned to room later at night, as we just put our stuff in the afternoon and left to explore the town we found just one chair and no suitcase holder. Having just come from Florence where there were two of everything I called reception. No answer. Ultimately I went down and asked the man at the front desk for the missing stuff. He banged on about the room being basic and that a double room is only space for 2 on the bed, one chair, no suitcase holder for any one as is the case anywhere else (according to him)!!!! The second time I came to ask for a chair as he would not respond to the phone, and again I had to call out for service. I heard him grumble and groan at being called. Again a banging on about the basic room. It's purported to be a four star so I was flummoxed but did not back down. I have some travel experience in my life. I got the stuff despite that unnecessary feeble exchange which I did not get the point of as from his attitude I had expected a real fight and was ready to leave the hotel. Thereafter I am happy to say it was smooth sailing and no further hitches. We were so happy to discover later that the others at the front desk were wonderful, as was the receptionist who checked us in before the unfortunate encounter. The breakfast room is lovely and airy. A few plants and flowers would make it perfect. Breakfast was pretty good and the service was absolutely smashing. The location is superb. Wonderful restaurants at hand, walking distance to the centre and everywhere good really. I guess they could do something to improve the street entrance (before one reached the sliding doors) as it looks pretty slummy and gives the wrong impression. Overall, great hotel, highly recommended. I do not let little incidents cloud my view.

Lovely, comfortable, modern room. Great Wi-Fi, good choice of items at breakfast. Staff were very accommodating at keeping our bags as were were too early to check in. Well situated for the centre and the train station. Very pleasant stay.

I do not like to bring down a company, but... I am sorry: this should not be a 3 star hotel. I give the benefit of the doubts and maybe I got the worst room in the entire structure, but... come on guys!! I had to spend only one night as I had to fly from Bologna, otherwise I would have asked to leave. Already the common areas are not great. I am not making it up: I attach the picture relative to the lights in the corridors. when were these cleaned last time? The room... the heating system was set to BBQ mode I guess. Luckily you can turn it off and the window can be opened. Dust everywhere (again: I posted the pictures of the side table, the inside of the cabinet, the safe). The wall paper is literally falling apart. The bathroom: badly maintained (see picture of the toilet and the shower). I had honestly no time to find a different hotel and ruin the last afternoon of my long weekend with my wife, so I digested the disappointment and I left the morning after. The breakfast… please check the cabinet and the appliances… seriously: you serve food in there! Strange: nobody asked at the check-out ”how was your stay?”... Now my question is: given the photo I am posting, how can the reviews on TripAdvisor be justified? I will stay away from this structure with no doubts in the future.
