Janur Bungalow

AMAZING. Our favourite place we've stayed in all of Asia after a few months travelling! The bungalow and area is as beautiful as the photos and it's worth staying just for the incredible floating breakfast. Great value for money for what you get. Bobby the owner was chilled out and friendly chatting to us and other guests making us feel welcome. The views are incredible... Watching the sunset over the fields with a volcano in the backdrop was our favourite moment of Java. Pool was spotless, flowers were stunning, the design of everything inside the bungalows and outside were impressive and so artistic. The bungalow also had great air con, we didn't see any bugs or mosquitoes which surprised us and had a great hot shower. The location is far from restaurants but we ordered food via grab and were happy to stay by the pool anyway as we didn't want to leave the relaxation. If you book make sure you book more than one night as you won't want to leave!

Janur Bungalow is a hidden gem in Magelang. I have stayed here twice, once before the renovation. Surrounded by rice fields, the bungalow offers a peaceful atmosphere with cool, fresh air. On clear days, the view of the mountains is breathtaking. The owner is warm, friendly, and has a great sense of humor. With only a few bungalows available, privacy is well maintained. The rooms are generally clean, though lizard droppings can sometimes be found in the corners. The bed is soft and comes with a mosquito net, but since it’s made of wood, even small movements can cause it to creak. Because of its location near the rice fields, insects are common. However, the owner provides mosquito repellent lotion and electric repellents to ensure guests’ comfort. The bathroom and toilet are spotless, with hot water available for showers. One of the highlights was the floating breakfast, which my child absolutely loved. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, making our stay even more enjoyable. This experience has left a lasting impression, and I would love to come back again.

For everything that i got, the price was really worth. The bungalow was peaceful, quite, a nice place to relax if you seek for calm and quite place. The breakfast was really good, we can choose the menu and where we want to eat. Room was clean and nice, i love the semi outdoor bathroom. The owner was really nice, they have cute cats 😍. PROS: Janur is beautiful and cozy property with just 6 bungalows. The exterior is nicely decorated and very well kept. The bungalows are beautiful but simple. The decoration of the room and the outside bathroom is minimalist but nice and practical. In the room you have air conditioned and a daily complimentary bottle of water, as well as bath towel. The breakfast is served in the exterior area just next to the pool. The food is homemade and very good. For us the property was very well located because it was just 7 minutes by car from Borobudur but if you want to go by foot to restaurants or other places is not possible because you just can reach the places in a motor vehicle. Taxi, grab, transfer, etc. POSSIBLE CONS: The bungalows are all made of wood, so they have several cracks. Through these cracks can enter small animals. During my stay some geckos entered in the room and for whom has some phobia or afraid of this kind of animals can be complicated. The bed is protected by a mosquito net but despite of that you can listen to the sound of them when they are in the room. The bathroom is in the exterior of the room and the roof is open so it can happen the same. Also, there is no soundproofing in the rooms. You can listen to all the sounds of the other bungalows and from the outside. The property is close to a road that has to much traffic and at night combining this noise with the sound of the prayers in the mosque it can be difficult to sleep. For who want to stay here and have a nice stay I recommend taking some ear plugs. I took ones and managed to sleep. Overall, we’ve liked this place very much, so if for you the possible cons are not cons I think you will love the stay.

A beautifully appointed and located guesthouse in a quiet location not far from Borabadur. The accommodation is very comfortable and stylish with excellent facilities and lovely touches. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful and an excellent breakfast is provided in a small pavilion overlooking the pool and the paddy fields. Would love to have stayed longer. Highly recommended.
