"My 4th time in the hotel. Location is great since it is in the center of town. Food is also good but I would prefer more variety for breakfast hot meal. No elevator so difficult for people travelling with big bags. Staff is just friendly and super helpful."

Travelodge Braintree

📍 VICTORIA STREET, Braintree

"My wife and I have been faithful fans of Travelodge for many years. Indeed we stayed at a Travelodge at Bournemouth only a week or so previously. Because you always know what you'll be given - a safe room, a clean room, usually a quiet room, a comfortable bed, extra pillows if needed, a couple of chairs, writing space, good lighting, a functional and clean bathroom, hot water, towels; usually a lift and sometimes a small snack bar but, in any case, a convenient, usually fast-food eatery nearby, and a car park. The Braintree Travelodge is no different. It is a very substantial block, set beside the town's bus station so if you arrive by bus, perfect. And also quite close to the town's station so if you arrive by train almost perfect. But what if you arrive by car? Well, seemingly also perfect because, underneath the Travelodge is a huge car park which, at first sight, would seem to be part of the Travelodge. Wrong: It is not. If you bother to read the Braintree Travelodge Small Print - and how many of us do - you will read that there are 5 free car parking spaces and 7 payable ones. The rest of the car park seems to belong to the Council. So where else can you park? The Station Yard. But does everyone want to leave their car in a Station Yard overnight in a strange town where security may be lapse if it exists at all. Not perfect at all. So, if you are travelling by car, the Braintree Travelodge might well not be your first choice, especially as there are a couple of hotels belonging to a very similar but slightly more up-market chain situated on the Braintree By-Pass, both of which have more than ample car park spaces and adjacent Eateries at which we have also stayed and would most highly recommend."

"Have nightmares from staying here. I came here disabled, was put in a room by the stairs where I could hear everyone walking up and down throughout the day. They told me they only had 2 disabled rooms, so I had to go quite far down the corridor when I couldn't walk. The staff were rude to me, they told my family they felt threatened when I asked if the bath dirt could be looked at. As im a bigger man, I must of become some sort of threat. They also told my family that they were unsure how disabled I am as I can hold on to the walls walking down. Was there for 3 months unfortunately due to sickness, was completely ignored, banging outside the door all the time, lack of hot water, no Internet to get food and when I ordered food, I know its not their job to bring it to my door, but when I can't walk, those small things would of kept me going. Bad air circulation, lots of flys and an old build. There were 1 young lady and an African man that would be nice to me, other than that they would look away when I came across the front desk. Hope new management is put in place and could do for a rebuild"

"Stayed here before. Easy check in and room clean and tidy. Only issue was the beds. Base too small and one foot missing. This made them uncomfortable to sleep on. Breakfast good and staff very helpful."

Travelodge Braintree ★★★
"Noisiest hotel I’ve stayed at in a long time. Other guests were sprinting the hallway and slamming doors until gone 2am. Bathroom was filthy and very poorly maintained. "

"Although reception lady was very helpful and smiley the room and condition of the premises was very shabby. Holes in the carpet, peeling paint, lights not working, generally felt dirty and old. Very expensive for such an old tatty room. "
