Overall, the hotel was decent. The location is great, just a few minutes' walk to Taikoo Li. It's situated on a quiet side street. The room was clean and tidy, and having a small walk-in closet was perfect for storing belongings. The hotel is on the upper floors, with the lobby in the middle. You need to transfer elevators to go up or down, but awkwardly, there are only three elevators to the lobby. Even worse, one is reserved for the Sky Bar on the 61st floor at night, which is incredibly inconvenient.  Secondly, probably due to the occupancy rate, the hot water wasn't hot enough in the evening. After a tiring day out, I was looking forward to a relaxing hot bath in the bathtub, but the water temperature was insufficient, so I had to reluctantly give up. The hotel's breakfast area is tiny. It was Christmas Eve, and we had to wait in line for 20 minutes for breakfast. During that time, the staff didn't offer any assistance, which made for a poor experience.

I have to give full marks to Bella at the Front Desk of Chengdu Kapok Hotel! As soon as I arrived, her warm smile was truly a balm. She was efficient and thorough during check-in, proactively helped with my luggage, and patiently explained the hotel facilities and local food recommendations. When I casually mentioned wanting a quieter room, she immediately arranged it without any hesitation or perfunctory attitude. Throughout my stay, she was always quick to respond to any questions I had, proving herself professional and incredibly thoughtful – truly sincere in every detail. Such outstanding service made my entire trip exceptionally comfortable. I will definitely choose Kapok Hotel again next time I'm in Chengdu, and a special thank you to Bella for her dedicated effort, she truly deserves all the praise!

Excellent as always! Everything from the facilities and environment to the service is superb!

It's right next to Dong'an Lake Sports Park, making it absolutely the top choice for concerts, and the views within sight are beautiful.

What's most worth mentioning is that besides being proactively upgraded to a suite, we were walking down the hallway talking about wanting to buy some water, and a passing staff member stopped, actively asked what we needed, and told us where the vending machine was! This service definitely deserves a 5-star review!

I booked a room with a view of the Empire State Building, but I could only see it in a line, which was a bit disappointing.

The room was a bit small, but the decoration was quite fashionable. The air conditioner was too noisy. Fortunately, it was not hot at night, so I just didn't turn it on.

The location is great, it's close to everything.

The hotel has its own restaurant, which tastes good. It's quite convenient for solo travelers

The service was excellent. Two days before our arrival, the hotel called to ask if we had any special requests. I mentioned we were bringing a child, and they went ahead and combined the two beds as I requested, and even provided an extra duvet and pillow for the little one. The room felt very cozy, the bed was super comfortable, and the shower had great pressure with plenty of hot water. The bath amenities were grapefruit-scented, which was wonderfully relaxing – I absolutely loved them. I also really liked the Mingshi stone tea set they provided. The hotel's location is incredibly convenient for the airport departure hall; it's a direct 10-minute walk via a skybridge to the second floor.

This hotel is great for a weekend getaway with kids. Juyongguan Great Wall and Shuiguan Great Wall are nearby, with Shuiguan Great Wall being closer and less crowded, though a bit challenging to climb. The hotel is nestled in the mountains, offering a pleasant environment with individual villas dotted up the hillside. Our room was quite far, so we needed to drive to the lobby and restaurant.

The hotel also offers many family-friendly activities. On our second morning, we participated in a valley hike, which was essentially a mountain climb – it requires some stamina.

There were also quite a few downsides. Given how spread out the rooms are and how far they are from the lobby, one would expect butler service, but there was none. Moreover, it was very difficult to get through to the front desk from the room phone. For a self-proclaimed 'family-friendly hotel,' there weren't even children's slippers in the room. After finally getting through on the phone, it took an hour for them to be delivered. Why weren't they provided directly at check-in when they saw we had a child?

The room itself was fairly large, but the bathroom lacked air conditioning/heating, and the shower was open-concept. This design might be fine in Sanya, but in Yanqing, showering at night was absolutely freezing. There was also water pooling, and when staff came to check, they said it was because the floor drain was too high, and nothing could be done, which was a bit frustrating.

We had two meals at the hotel restaurant; the food was good, albeit a bit pricey. We also ate at a farmhouse restaurant down the mountain where the iron pot stewed fish was delicious – I forgot its name, but it had “Tell Old Mo I want to eat fish” written on the wall.

Despite the downsides, it's still a good place for a weekend with kids. The hotel has an outdoor pool and a children's splash pool, which were closed due to the cold weather. We'll definitely bring the kids back in the summer.
