My niece and I just spent 18 days in New England staying three nights each in six different locations. Our stay at The Inn on Putney Road was, by far, our favorite. My niece stayed in The Mountain View Room and I stayed in The Ripley Suite. Both rooms were absolutely beautiful. Each had everything you could ask for. While I enjoyed the room with the separate living area, she chose to spend her evenings after our daily adventures in her room enjoying everything it had to offer. We typically don’t eat breakfast but we made an exception while at The Inn on Putney Road as Paul’s breakfast are not to be missed. He must have been a professional chef in his prior life. Another plus is the inn is located in a quiet area away from all the touristy areas - easy in, easy out, and sufficient parking. I would highly recommend The Inn on Putney Road if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing, uniquely beautiful, well-appointed place to stay during your visit to Vermont.

Quaint, clean and quiet. Delicious breakfast and cookies. Personable staff and well equipped rooms. Beautiful location right at the river and lake. Highly recommend for its locally, the beauty grounds and lovely staff.

We stayed in Room 4 - the Ripley Suite. Even though this Inn is quaint and old, your needs will be met in a modern way. There is a small refrigerator, flat screen TV, cool AC unit where the air comes out behind a picture, strong water pressure in the shower, etc. I have already ordered a robe just like those provided by the Inn. Everything is perfect at this Inn. Breakfast is amazing - so many flavors perfectly put together. The walk to town is a bit far for me so we did drive. Loved the restaurant Vegan AF - from the outside it doesn't look like much - but once inside it is very nice and the food was delicious. There is a river behind the Inn if you walk down the trail. However, if you want to kayak will have to go down the road a little bit to rent a kayak and depart from their shore. This is a super clean Inn that is quiet and filled with cute touches everywhere you look. I would recommend this Inn 100% !!

This was our 5th stay at the Inn on Putney Road and it's always getting better! We love Paul's breakfasts and enjoyed getting to know Marie. We stayed in our fave room, the Ripley Suite, the biggest suite at the inn and had two glorious summer nights. Paul and the crew were accommodating for my gluten free intolerance and were very kind and supportive as usual. I was able to enjoy a nice long hike behind the inn one morning and both my partner and I were working remote one day - there are plenty of nooks to work from and the wifi was good. We enjoyed Peter Havens and High Thai for dinner in town and as usual did a little shopping and wander - as I get older the hike into town gets harder (haha) but it's nicely located and there is snobby coffee very close at Dutchess. I will always recommend this spot!

We had a really great time at this inn. The inn keepers were very accommodating with our schedule and dietary preferences. I wish we could have spent more time there. The sheets were so soft and the food was incredible. Highly recommend if you are in the area either on business or dropping a child off at school or camp.

From the moment you walk into that old house you feel it's a dream. All the rooms in the house are filled with interesting items to capture your attention. Even though the house is almost 100 years old, it is clean from top to bottom and in perfect condition. Everything a vacation get-away should be. That's how we felt at the Inn on Putney road. We like to hike and swim so it was a pleasant surprise to find a trail at the back of the yard that meandered through the woods and down to the water. On a beautiful summer evening we found our way to the water for sunset and took a dip. The breakfast was awesome. You should try this house.

My partner and I stayed at this inn for 7 days in early July. This is one of the finest inns I've experienced. It is quite simply exceptional. It is elegant, and yet also homey, comfortable, and very relaxed. Our room was very nice with a comfortable bed, a separate sitting area, spacious bath, and plenty of amenities. The common rooms are inviting and beautifully appointed. The breakfast offered each morning is excellent and includes a fruit salad and a different entree every day. There is a lovely yard with gazebo and other seating. Paul, the innkeeper is super nice, personable, helpful, and clearly cares very much about providing a great experience to guests. Marie, another staff member, is equally terrific and delightful. The inn is conveniently located near downtown Brattleboro, which is a fun town to explore. The inn is also very well located for exploring southern Vermont. Very highly recommended.
