"In general, a nice hotel located in the center of the old city. If you have a lot of luggage, be prepared to not get a taxi directly to the hotel as the street on which the hotel is located is pedestrian. On foot from the nearest possible stop, the taxi will need to go about 50 meters. Breakfast is Swedish Table. Comfortable mattresses and pillows. Bathroom has a coat and a towel for feet. Shower/bathroom was clean with new plumbing. Room also has a TV."

It is a historic antique hotel. I stayed at such a type of hotel for the first time and it was a good experience. The room was a little too large and a little uncomfortable, and I wasn't used to the high bed. There is also an air conditioner and a refrigerator. Shampoo and hair dryer will be prepared upon request. It also turns down. The toilet has no ceiling, so it sounds unsuitable for couples because you can hear the sound. I can't deny the oldness, and I've been worried about the smell of mold since I entered. The staff are very good service. He responded to late check-out requests for free (because it was raining heavily). The breakfast at the rooftop restaurant was very delicious. However, since there is no elevator, I think that steep stairs are difficult for those who are worried about their health.

The room was nice and clean. The service is quite good and proactive. The environment is great. There is also the only Chinese restaurant on Sang Island 300 meters away, which is very cost-effective. Recommended. However, the dolphin watching and prison island recommended by the hotel are relatively expensive, so if possible, look outside.

Room, Balcony, View from the room and Restaurant is really nice. But only one thing they need to improve in their reception customer service. Room I signed when I check in and Room I really received was different. They changed the room without notice. I asked why they said it's same room inside. But it was totally different. Changed room has no privacy at all. We have to close the window during the stay. And I asked for late check out when I check in. They told me to check last day in the morning. In last day, I asked again for 2hrs late check out. They refused my request even didn't check the system. Just say NO. I am very disappointed with their attitude. And when I checked the site there were plenty room left. As everyone knows Zanzibar is the holiday place. Most of 5 star hotels in holiday place, they run check out time very flexible due to flight time. No deserve to have 5 stars in customer service.

The location is at the quiet side if the Stone Town. Due to it is situated inside a small alley, the directions could be quite complicated and we were lost several times to head back to the hotel. Despite being assured that it's safe, we were tapped by few mischievous children when we passed by a school near the hotel. That said, the room and hotel itself was great. We particularly enjoyed the breeze at the open air loft, where we could view the sea and ships from far away. It was indeed relaxing. The historical bed and bath in the room made the experience so unique. The only downside was there was insufficient of hot water for the bath. The breakfast wise was in fact the best we had in Tanzania, not to mention the impeccable hospitality provided by the staff there. Special shout out to the helpful staff who assisted us with our luggage during check in and out. Bear in mind on the steep staircase up to the room and inside the room to the loft. It might not be suitable for those who have knee problem, as you literally need to climb up and down everytime to the washroom. Otherwise, it was quite a memorable stay.

Utterly enchanting- from our 5am arrival until our departure 3 days later we were looked after so incredibly well. The hotel organised our airport pickup and opened up with a gentle tap (you may need help to find it as it’s in the narrow streets of old Stonetown). The front of house was superb and Peter took care of us. The hotel has so much atmosphere, full of antiques and lush vegetation. Breakfast is in the roof balcony. Excursions can be organised. I had read a few unpleasant reviews but I can’t think why, cleanliness was first class and the hospitality was outstanding. I hope you are lucky enough to find a room - we stayed 3 nights it was so good.

The hotel facilities are very old, especially the ventilation system in the bathroom. When I was in the bathroom, there was a sudden explosion, which caught me off guard. The room basically has no view because the distance to the next building is very close, so all you can see is the wall. Secondly, the price of the hotel's breakfast is very unreasonable, 15 US dollars per person, the buffet has very few choices, and the taste is average.

Good location - in the center of everything in Stone town. They don’t have water coolers for clients - you have to go to the restaurant to refill. Also: it seems they bought another building. So they accommodated us in like 200 meters from main facility. Surely it’s kind of inconvenient but still ok.

Lovely hotel, room was very clean and bed was comfortable. Staff were very friendly. My safari was cancelled and the staff provided other tour options, many thanks for that! There is no phone in the room, I'd like to suggest even having a pager in the room would be helpful. Also no wifi in the room I think that should be an option. The food was great and I enjoyed my stay, would definitely recommend!

It's a little hard to find because it's in an alley in Stone Town. The room was clean and cute with a blue theme, which made me feel good. There was air conditioning and there were no mosquitoes, so I didn't have to worry about getting bitten by them and I was able to stay comfortably. The breakfast at the restaurant across the street was also very delicious. The shuttle service to the airport was $20.
