Day 3 ME: May I have a roll of toilet tissue? MANAGER/OWNER: What’s your room number? ME: Number (xxx) MANAGER/OWNER: I gave you a roll yesterday. ME: (Gasp) - I have stayed in hotels in all 50 of the United States, plus in Europe, Central America, and the Far East, and I have never had a hotel manager or housekeeping threaten to refuse essential supplies and embarrass me asking about a roll of toilet tissue. - When we arrived, we were met by the recent owner of 30 years, who is working in transition with the new owner. This gracious lady made us feel like we were personal guests of hers. When meeting the new owner on day two, we seemed to be more of a bother; she was officiously curt; didn’t speak to us whenever she passed us on the sidewalk in front of the rooms; and I never saw her smile at anyone. If she doesn’t put hospitality above inventory control, I fear she won’t stay in business. The location is wonderful, right on the beach, has large decks and patios, and the downstairs rooms and bathrooms were totally remodeled, including a marble top vanity in the bathroom. When we entered our room, after having met the gracious former owner, we were excited to see how nice the room looked for a value-motel and immediately talked about returning in the future. We live in Florida already, but not near the beach. But after the treatment and discourtesy of current management, we will not return - unless it’s resold. It’s a shame because this small motel right on the beach has so much to offer. PS, the new owner does not live on site, so there’s no management there from 7pm to 10 am. There are no lamps in the room, only one dim wall light, NOT good for reading, and there are no drapes, so security lights in parking area shine through the paper shade at the window making the room too bright for good sleeping. I hope the new owner reads this because I like to see people succeed.
