The Gather Inn

Hotel Location & breakfast was amazing.

The hotel rooms need a lot of TLC. Mould in the bathroom ceiling, badly installed appliances, chipped and scraped walls, door of the toilet didn’t shut properly, and the worst of all, toilet roll locked behind a key lock which meant that when the dispenser became empty during the night we didn’t have any toilet paper in. No staff during the night or toilet rolls to use without the empty dispenser. Nobody to help when needed something in the middle of the night when all staff had gone home and lock the bar area. The wifi router seemed to have been also turned off when staff left at 11. So bad reception on the phone and no wifi leaves you incommunicado in the middle of the night. Really disappointing experience. Noise in the building every time other guests use the toilet is awful and kept waking us up. Noise from the street is bad so we had a very bad night sleep. We had also booked a double room and ended up with twin beds. Only good point was location and cleanliness. The cleaning staff do a great job. The room was spotlessly clean in spite of the general wear and tear. All in all I don’t think we’d not be going back any time soon. If you are sensitive to noise stay somewhere else.

We stayed here on Saturday 18th October, the lady behind the bar was really nice. Went out in Brighton then came back. Checked in and went in the bar, spent a lot of money on drink and food as there was 7 of us. Had wait ages for food and they never had any fish what so ever, even being next to the sea. Went up to the room which had no remote for the tv, a disgusting mattress which was all stained, the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night due to other guests. And they took an extra payment off my card without informing me, found out the next day about this and called them. Would stay here again and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone

Rooms decent small and don’t get much height so if tall could be uncomfortable , pub nice I had the nachos and some cocktails which was lovely. Parking we had to pay £7.90 no free spaces as very limited and side roads mean I would have to move my car which didn’t work out as I was out all night and we had to get an Uber into Brighton so really is wasn’t much cheaper than staying in Brighton and paying for parking. We walked home and it’s 4 miles yes 4 miles not what everyone else said buses were not very regular I was looking for them when I had some drinks and see 1 in an hour. Nice place to stay reception was busy but all very friendly and nice. All in all a decent stay.
