The Grand Scarborough
"The hotel was lovely! Yes it’s a bit old fashioned but wants do you expect for the money! Lovely hotel great for the money!"
Royal Hotel
"All good for the money like most brittania hotels"
East Ayton Lodge Hotel, Scarborough
"There is no big problem in the room, it is OK. I really don't understand why they don't provide bath towels."
White Horse Farm Inn
"I stayed here to take pictures of the stars. To my surprise, the hotel's seasonal platter was so delicious. It really had the aroma of earth, which reminded people of the original beauty of food. The room was older, but it was quite comfortable to live in. It was very suitable. People who like quietness."
Best Western Forest Vale Hotel
"Pickering is a nice town. We took the steam train here and stayed there for one night. This hotel is similar to a family hotel, the environment is acceptable, but the services are basically non-existent. Breakfast includes two breakfasts, but an extra child has to buy it separately. Cold meals are 10 pounds and hot meals are 16 pounds. We say that the two adults who include breakfast will order hot meals, and the additional child will order cold meals. The waiter said that adults can order whatever they want on the menu and there is no quantity limit. We ordered several dishes in total, thinking they were all single items, but it turned out that each dish came with a side dish. We saw that we couldn't finish it and asked them to leave it. Don't serve the food that was served. At the end of the bill, they told us that we ordered more than two hot meals, and since the dishes that were not served would be counted, the children's portions must also be charged as hot meals. The argument failed, and they didn't listen to the explanation at all. And what's even more outrageous is that when we ordered, we clearly said that our children wanted cold meals, and we ordered more than three people. Why didn't the waiter remind us? ! The service is terrible!"
YHA Whitby
"I recently spent a few quiet days at YHA Whitby, and it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable hostel stays I’ve had in a long time. The hostel sits in a remarkable location beside the ruins of Whitby Abbey, high above the harbour. From the gardens and many of the windows you get wonderful views across Whitby’s rooftops, the harbour entrance, and the North Sea. It’s a setting that makes you slow down and appreciate the place. I stayed in the hostel’s newly created single room, and was told I was actually the first guest to use it. The room itself is compact but very well arranged, with a comfortable bed, hanging space and a window looking out across the town. Waking up to that view each morning was a real highlight. The staff were excellent throughout my stay. Penny, the manager, clearly knows the building and the hostel well, John on reception was friendly and welcoming All the cafe bar staff were excelent and chefs her make lovely food. The café and bar area became one of my favourite spaces. It’s a relaxed room with large windows overlooking Whitby where travellers sit with coffee, laptops or guidebooks during the day. In the evenings it becomes a pleasant social space where people passing through Whitby briefly cross paths and share stories. One morning the hostel suddenly filled with energy as school groups arrived, which was actually nice to see. It reminded me that youth hostels serve many purposes – not just for independent travellers but also for school trips and young people discovering places for the first time. Whitby itself is perfect for wandering. The harbour, narrow streets and the abbey ruins above the town make it a place that rewards slow exploration rather than rushing from attraction to attraction. I travelled with just a small backpack, and Whitby felt like the kind of town where simple travel works best. Overall, a welcoming hostel in an extraordinary location. I would happily stay here again. Tips for future visitors • The walk up to the hostel from town is steep, but the views make it worth it. • Try to get a window seat in the café overlooking Whitby. • If you’re travelling light, the hostel works perfectly as a base for exploring the abbey and harbour area."
