The Pecking Mill Inn ★★★

📍 Pecking Mill Farm Cottage, A371, Evercreech, Shepton Mallet

"The owner is kind and makes an effort to provide good service. However, the room facilities could be improved — the kettle was quite small and not very clean. The view around the hotel is super nice."

"Great place."

Travelodge Wincanton
9.0 (41 reviews)

Travelodge Wincanton ★★★

📍 Lawrence Hill, Stoke Trister

"Unfortunately, my recent stay at this hotel did not meet expectations. I experienced poor customer service at reception by a lady called Mel. I felt my concerns were not listened to properly, and the attitude I encountered lacked professionalism. As a guest, I expect to feel valued and respected, which sadly was not the case. I hope management can address this and provide better customer service training. Room was clean and location of the hotel is a bonus."

"Stayed here on a few occasions always welcoming, always clean great value"

Holbrook Manor & Spa
6.6 (52 reviews)

Holbrook Manor & Spa ★★★

📍 Castle Cary, Road, Wincanton

"Placed in a brick single story bedroom come lounge . Very grubby carpet. Vertical blinds hanging from runners. Area generally in poor repair. Hot and and cold tap in bathroom constantly running. Garden view. (REALLY) £83 No breakfast. Reception no real interest and the garden cafe closed at 1600, despite being told it would offer some simple foodstuffs and drinks. Forget it. Spa users some were very rude and clearly guest staying over were well done the list.."

📍 Longbridge Deverill, Warminster

Hunters Lodge Inn
8.6 (103 reviews)

Hunters Lodge Inn ★★★

📍 B3081, Hunters Lodge Inn, Leigh Common, Wincanton

"Excellent room and shower room facilities, including an iron and fan in room. Comfy bed. Quiet bedroom annex, considering the proximity of the Inn to a busy road. Breakfast was decent, although scrambled eggs were more like an omelette. Excellent value."

Turks Hall ★★★
"We had a lovely stay, felt very welcomed and looked after with tea and flapjacks! House is conveniently situated to walk to the High Street and the restaurants there and the room was great, with a comfortable bed and a view over rooftops and everything we needed."

George Hotel & Granary ★★★★
"We had a delightful stay at The George Hotel. The staff were exceptionally kind, helpful, and went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcome. While the rooms are a little dated, they were warm, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed. The breakfast was delicious, served hot, and offered a great selection—even our fussy son found something to enjoy! We would be more than happy to stay here again."

Travelodge Wincanton ★★★
"This is the description of the room when you book:- Suitable for 2 Adults "Comfy king size Dreamer™ bed" ANSWER - the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have slept in in the last year and I have travelled across France & Spain this year too. The bed was sinking in the middle and was lumpy; it was horrible. - "Ensuite bathroom with shower and complimentary hand, hair & body wash Lavazza a modo mio capsule coffee machine and tea making facilities" ANSWER -We stayed 2 nights but only got hot chocolate on one night had to ask for coffee pods at the reception - Complimentary premium refreshments USB charging points by the bed Bedside reading lights "Spacious desk with lamp and plug sockets, and desk chair" ANSWER - Not quite sure what they mean by Spacious, there was nothing spacious about the room, it was a very small room, only just enough room to walk down one side of the bed, No hooks, drawers, or shelves for anything. Nowhere to put your case. Blackout curtains "Comfortable armchair" ANSWER -Just a basic chair with no arms - "TV with Freeview" ANSWER- Very small TV - "Cosy 10.5 tog duvet, 4 plump pillows" ANSWER - I asked for a lower tog duvet as the room was very hot, but they do not have any, can only give you a sheet, and the pillows were hard and lumpy - "Set of fresh white towels" ANSWER - 2 bath towels and only one hand towel and no bath mat to stand on when you got out of the bath just a slippery floor - Room located on a dedicated floor "Available on request "Hairdryers and irons available from reception." ANSWER - Considering that we paid £100 per night, I think they could have suppied a hairdryer in the room for that price - Cots - please contact hotel to confirm availability I would not recommend this hotel and having stayed in a Travelodge several times I would not choose one again. I used to think they were good value but £100 a night I expect something a lot better. I cannot select very poor, but certainly not excellent in any way Poor quality small room which cost £100 per night - I think it is expensive for what you get. "

Holbrook Manor & Spa ★★★
"We booked 2 nights for a relaxing spa weekend. Based on it being a spa hotel. We planned on staying in the hotel for the whole weekend.  When we arrived we were told there was no restaurant or bar we can use as it’s only used for events.  We then had some lunch in the spa cafe. Food was ok. Service was terrible.  We then went to the room as we were able to check in. The cleaner was still there. Very apologetic extremely polite and lovely. The room was absolutely wonderful. Large bedroom bathroom and living room.  We went out and found a pub for food. When we returned to relax in the room we found the party was directly below us and in full swing. Very loud and noisy and the smoking area was right outside our window. We called reception but they were fully booked. Glad to say it all stopped at midnight.  We went down to breakfast at 9.30. Not much left and the full breakfast was cold. When we questioned it we were just told”well it has been there since 7” it had just sat on the side in silver trays for 2.5 hours, no heat or option to reheat. It wasn’t edible.  We skipped breakfast that we paid for on the second day.  We then thought we would spend some time in the spa. Ha! Well the pool is small, no where to relax just a couple of plastic chairs, not a spa at all. It had a very small sauna and steam room. The jacuzzi didn’t work it was just a pool of cloudy water with a few bubbles.  Would not recommend. Seems it used to be and could be a wonderful place to be but has been taken over and lost its sole. Such a shame as the building and grounds are wonderful.  I have to add the cleaning staff and lady on reception were wonderful, welcoming and friendly."

"House keeping didn’t change our towels or make the beds and only gave us half a tea tray on the second day, the bathroom was filthy including the shower head which was black with mould and taps all grubby it needs a good deep clean. Breakfast was lovely and staff friendly but let down with the room. The tv also had no signal"
