Popular Budapest 4-star Hotels

The location of this hotel was perfect for us, slightly removed from the rest of the big hotels but a very short walk to the river. The front desk staff was first rate service, dealt with a late checkin very well and were very helpful on checkout. The breakfast was generally very good, staff could get a bit flustered during busy times but there is a guide to busy and quiet times in the room so a good idea to keep that in mind. The bar staff could be a little frosty but service became much better when they realised (when we asked to pay) that we were staying ay the hotel. The room was very nice, a good size all the usual little things, plus chocolate! The robes provided were a bit tatty, but still functional. Certainly somewhere I would stay again.

Hospitality at this hotel is pretty much non-existent, especially for what I'd expect of a Novotel. It starts with having no doorman. You'll see this a few times in others comments. They give you one water bottle in your room. Don't expect them to replace it throughout your stay though. That'd be a lot to ask. Room service? I'm not sure if they cleaned the rooms during our stay. They did make the beds. That's about all. When I asked where I might find water, I was rudely directed to purchase a bottle from the restaurant. This is unheard of to me. Filtered water should always be freely provided. The breakfast was also quite mediocre. Huge lineup for coffee, no brewed coffee, which would be quicker to serve. Staff not around. For the price, the breakfast is certainly not worth it. Not a great experience. I won't be returning.

WE had a great stay AT this hotel. . The staff was very kind and attentive especially AT the front desk (helpful and polite, handled all our requests ). To be honest the room was correct not spacious but Location was perfect👍👌 WE will be back for sure

This hotel ticks all the boxes , location is brilliant bars and restaurants all around you’ll not struggle finding a drink or a place to eat , from burger joints to Michelin restaurants. Very close ruin bars and cafe New York , also the bus stop for the tour bus is within a 5 min walk , we got our bus tickets from the hotel and the women at the desk couldn’t be more helpful. The room we had was executive double it was huge had a lounge area with tea n coffee making facilities, separate shower n bath in the bathroom , mini bar offering everything you need to make your stay comfortable, the maids came every day cleaned our room and brought fresh towels, bedding and replenished our tea n coffee facilities. Breakfast at the hotel was lovely it had a huge offering there was something for everyone from fresh fruits ,pastries and juices to the hot selection bacon eggs etc , the hotel pool and sauna is brilliant and we used this every morning before breakfast. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Budapest , we really couldn’t fault it on our visit here ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Beautiful hotel downstairs, but rooms are very tired, they are not as bright and vibrant as on the website. Our room on the 4th floor had no pictures on the walls and lacked the basic items. You could also hear the upstairs guests which was very annoying at 4am! The bathroom was also very dated. The Balcony was a lovely feature in the room. We asked for an iron only to be told there was an ironing room on the ground floor, this was really inconvenient. We went for lunch at the bar which was awful, my burger was rock hard and took ages to come and they only replaced it with the same thing. The location is great if you are heading out into the city. It does the job for a city break hotel.

Stayed here for 3 nights and it was the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in. The trams outside are non stop and even with ear plugs you can still hear them rattling along. The lobby area of each floor is set out in a big circle with the rooms round the outside and a hole in each floor all the way to the top so the noise of guests even from different floors carries like mad. On our final night a party came in late and were making so much noise running around and slamming doors that we couldn’t sleep and had to phone down to reception to ask them to send someone to shut them up. (Please don’t think I’m usually ‘that person’ as I’m really not!) The maids also started very early and are not in the least bit quiet….at times it felt like they were in the room with us. It’s a shame as the hotel is clean and the rooms are really nice and big. Powerful shower and comfy bed (tho lack of pillows meant we had to use the sofa cushions!) About a 20 minute walk from the ‘centre’ area - the area the hotel is in is pretty grubby but there’s a Tesco across the road for snacks and a metro station also very close. About a 20 minute walk from Astoria stop if you’re getting a bus from the airport. Very limited bar, no restaurant for anything other than breakfast, and no drinks making facilities in the room. I wouldn’t give the hotel 4 stars to be honest. The reception staff and breakfast staff were lovely, couldn’t fault them at all. Just a shame about the racket, by the end of the weekend we were dead on our feet, partly due to all the walking you usually do on a city break but mainly due to the lack of sleep! Because of this, I 100% would not stay here again and couldn’t recommend it to anyone who values a decent nights sleep.

Stayed here for 2 nights, the building is located in quite a convenient area with choices of public transport. It appears to be quite a newly renovated building, it stands out to be the most well-kept building in the whole street. I booked the Classic Double Room, Balcony with breakfast. I wouldn’t say the balcony is in many ways functional, it is very narrow and it is mainly used for people who want to smoke as there is an outdoor ashtray there. The room itself is modern, well kept, and didn’t show any particular wear so far. There are several issues I found with the room, the air conditioning works quite well but it is manually operated, when I left it in ‘auto’ mode it was quite loud. In the evening I set it to low fan speed but it just created a constant quite irritating fan noise which went away when I set the fan speed to medium. I also dislike the curtains, the blackout material doesn’t reach all the way up it leaves around a 2cm gap so the room is quite light in the morning. I tend not to sleep well when the room isn’t dark. I used the coffee machine in the room, but the coffee machine doesn’t work properly, despite I pressed the “full cup” function the machine only made around 10ml of coffee despite I keep pressing the button it would not make enough coffee to drink. When I returned to the room the next day the used coffee pod is still very much in the machine when I wanted to try the machine again which isn’t ideal when the housekeeper hasn’t checked the machine. The dirty cup was changed. Breakfast is at the basement restaurant, the selection of food is quite good and it was kept refreshed during breakfast. The reception staff were polite and spoke good English. Overall, I felt the room is modern, location is not bad but I felt the overall attention to detail is somewhat lacking such as the curtains doesn’t block out the light, noisy air conditioning, and the cleaning routine not involving checking the coffee machine. I don’t necessarily not recommend it but there are a few problems.

Second time I was in this Hotel . First time was everything OK , but now everything was disaster . After check in we noticed the TV not worked , I tried to call reception but the phone was not worked too. I used my mobile to call the landlines number of the Hotel what is on website and what is in the leaflet in the room, the staff doesn't bothered to answering to the call after 15 min. So I went down , they were busy to chatting inside of the back. Instead of come to check the TV , they gave me 2 batteries to change , the phone they said they couldn't do anything as there is no maintenance. TV had no battery issue , as next day maintenance confirmed , so if the staff members came up to check we have a TV..... I asked to book yellow taxi for me , not Elite black taxi which charge double . Staff said ok , the they booked me Elit black Cab . Because I was on time , I had to use. So paid 5.500HUF instead of 3.000HUF. When I addressed this issues and want to speak with some manager , they told me write a email, so I did. Get response next day , they apologised and gave us a gift in our room . Some chocolate and wine . Chocolate box was open , so I made photo and sent email again to the manager , still until today no response given.... Obviously we left the gift in the room. Top of that last night instead of 3 set towels we got only 2 , while 3 person was in the room... Room was dirty , dust webs in corners.... There is many much better and cheaper 4 dear Hotel around . Never again !!!

The hotel is not worthy of 4 stars at all. The standard room is already ruined: the door to the bathroom is sagging and may soon fall, the doorframes are broken from below, the walls are stained in places, the sofa is also not the first freshness. A standard room with one bed is 2 single beds placed side by side, covered with one sheet. Only the beds are on wheels and move apart, so there is a problem if you sleep together, only in your own half. No water, only in the minibar for money. Breakfast is buffet, but it’s the same every day, and if you stay for a long time it can get boring. So I give the hotel a maximum of 2-3 stars. There is no kettle in the room, it turns out you have to ask for it at the reception.

The hotel is very beautiful and modern and the staff very welcoming. not knowing the city, they do not hesitate to advise me on places to visit and explain to me how to get around with public transport. The room was very comfortable and modern corresponding to all my expectations. The only small negative point that I could cite is the restricted opening hours of the restaurant and the bar. Taking into account the neighborhood (8th arrondissement), I would have preferred to eat at the hotel than to have to go out or order. In summary, a great stay and can't wait to come back!
