We had a fantastic time at the Great Northern Hotel during the Bundoran set dancing weekend. The hotel's location is superb, surrounded by the ocean and a golf course. We had a magnificent sea view from our large and very comfortable double room in the top floor. The cooked breakfast was terrific and there were gluten-free options (e.g., bread and cereals). Facilities include a swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. We will definitely be back!

Returned from fabulous break in Great Northern Hotel Bundoran. Lovely walk overlooking the sea. Good food and very efficient service, super entertainment in the evening with Marion and gibby also set dancing and story telling. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Very disappointing stay considering price paid and that its supposed to be 4*. My husband and I and our 18 month old daughter stayed on August Bank holiday Saturday, paying 200 for B and B. Yes the hotel is dated and the bathroom is shabby , the beds terribly uncomfortable and pillows that are thinner than a good paper back but the bar food, both service and food was I can only say the worst ive ever had and any self respecting hotel or chef should be mortified to serve. We paid 66 Euro for the following meal coke and a bottle of coors light wings which in fairness were ok but served without side plates to eat them off, anything to clean your fingers and before my daughters 8.50 sausage and undercooked chip which i asked to get first. We were then served 2 x Caesar salads with chips, when i say caesar salad, thats what we ordered, we got a tangled mass of rocket and odd ball lettuce( not a piece of romaine in sight) with what seemed like left over side salad mixed in , with watery packet chicken and the greasy bread sponges which I can only assume were meant to be croutons and a piece of deep fried bacon. the chips were not cooked enough to be edible No one queried why two 20euro salads went back uneaten. I then asked for a single scoot of ice-cream for my little one, at this age I cant give here a big bowl because it will just go every where, again completely ignored and a full giant bowl delivered. Table clearer also removed her paddington fork ( she's not yet able to eat wit the adult sized cutlery that was given to er ) and despite asking 2 staff to go to the kitchen and get it back , no joy. Plenty of staff on but not a bit of interest in what they were doing, poorly trained and uncaring. Saturday night the corridor outside our room was very noisy , and my little one was woken a few times. Breakfast was ok, if you like full irish, not a croissant or pastry in sight. Ive tried to find some positive , the pool was nice but there are hidden charges everywhere 3 for a hat, 2 for a towel 1 for locker, but the man on leisure centre reception was helpful and sound. Small kids play area outside suitable for school age plus, no indoor play despite me having seen it somewhere when booking. Also beware - booking on the hotel site was NO cheaper than the online sites and they have a 5 day cancellation policly where you will often get 24 hour cancellation on some of the sites but honestly if you want a bit of luxury or relaxation Id avoid like the plague,

Our stay was very pleasant. Staff were friendly and helpful. One staff member in the Cafe bar, who looked after our food order, was particularly knowledgeable and approachable. His service and recommendations were spot on and the food was excellent. Cleanliness abounds in this hotel. Not our first stay and we’ll be back.

We arrived on Saturday 10th February..checked in all the staff were pleasant and courteous..on arriving at our room the temperature was freezing ..check the radiator and it was turned on but stone cold as was ymthe one in the bathroom ..I brought this to the attention of the receptionist who stated that she would get someone to look at it . . Arrived back to the room at 12 .30 am to the same arctic conditions...really disappointing 😞

Extremely disappointing visit. We booked a family room that wasn’t cheap and for a hotel in that location we got a room that literally looked into another room and the fire escape ladder. Every other hotel would have given you a warning this is what’s available. Upon arrival the room was about 17 deg C and no heating on whatsoever. After asking at reception to turn on the heat we decided to warm up at the bar which was just as cold. In the evening we also discovered huge cobwebs all over the room. At breakfast we had to wait at least 20 minutes for staff to bring coffee and take our breakfast order even though there was only a handful of tables taken. The hotel could have so much going for it but is very tired and outdated looking and could do with a major revamp also with regards to hospitality what you would expect from a 4* hotel. I would not recommend going here unless there is a major revamp done.

Disappointing stay in this hotel for 2 nights over New Years. The hotel is in a wonderful location, and the staff were friendly but the positives end there. The double bedroom was furnished for max occupancy with a small double and single bed, and decor was drab. One decent size bed and a bit of redecoration needed. The food in the restaurant was edible but mediocre at best, and not restaurant standard. There was no effort made to make the place feel festive, for example in the very large restaurant the only decoration was a medium size Christmas tree. The lighting in the restaurant was very bright and the battery operated candles on some tables were not working. No sign of festive decor in the bar or hallways. I acknowledge that it is a family getaway location, but children still in the bar after 11 and on one night 2 children still in the hall area after 1 am did not seem appropriate. The hotel is large and quite run down in places, with very little effort apparent to make it a welcoming and comfortable place to enjoy a break. All in all a disappointing stay, and we will not visit again.

Stayed here over 15 times this was the worst experience. Why oh why do you think xmas time is the time to renovate the front main lobby. Wall paper *****ed, curtains all took down, leaving people sittimg with coats on, as the drafts are shocking.. Room wasnt ready until 4.30. Finally got room, smelt of smoke, empty beer cans in the bedroom bin. Went straight to reception, want a new room. Told to wait a further hour.. Got the new room, way better.. Reservations for dinner, we weremt informed the menu was only a 3 course even if you had the 1 course, you still had to pay €37.. I would of had all 3 if knew of this. But was to late.. Staff need to inform diners of this.. Laura our waitress was fantastic, the manager was rude & not very friendly, when i questioned the menu. I wish i read the reviews before booking here.. Never again..

On arrival the hotel seemed busy as it was new years eve, we had our table booked for 8 in the restaurant, the food came out rather quickly after ordering and the steak was undercooked to be medium to well done as it was still pink and presentation was poor as there was onions threw on top of the steak, the chips were overcooked, my girlfriends chicken was rubbery and undercooked, once we complained they knocked a small amount off the bill and we paid the remainder not to create an arguement even though we left half of the meal behind us. The rooms are nice but no extra pillows were supplied and we asked for one more extra pillow and we were told that there was no extra pillows in the hotel, the heat throughout the hotel was outragious, we turned off the radiator and opened both windows and the heat from the corridor was coming through which meant we got little to no sleep as it was way too warm to sleep, this has led to a very unpleasant stay and was definatly a waste of €200 for the night and finally it is safe to say we will not be back.
