My review is based on my booking experience with this guest house; I have not stayed there. We were excited to find this guest house for our family to be together for the 2024 eclipse. I reserved 3 rooms using my credit card and received email confirmations with their terms that I would be charged in the event of changes or cancellation on my end. At the time of the booking, I was not charged for a deposit and was not required to prepay the booking. The following day, I spoke with one of the proprietors about our upcoming two night stay during the eclipse. Two and a half months later, I was surprised to receive cancellation email notices with no explanation, and I contacted the hosts to find out what happened. I was told that it was a booking error and that new pricing and the reservation hub would be open to book at the beginning of 2024. However, I looked up the rooms we had booked, and not only were they available on the same day as our cancellation notices, but the prices had increased by 168%. I chose not to rebook the three rooms. I thought this should be on record, so I filed a complaint with the Vermont Attorney General’s Consumer Assistance Program. After I filed the complaint, the host contacted me and gave me information on alternative places to stay. At that point, I had already made other arrangements, and we are all set. This information is public record and can be verified by contacting the Vermont Attorney General’s Consumer Assistance Program.
