AAnonymous UserThis hotel actually met all my expectations. The stay included breakfast, which was diverse and delicious. They also offer a laundry service for guests; you just put your clothes in a basket, and the cleaning staff will wash them for you. One thing I loved was that the hotel contacted us and arranged airport pickup even before we checked in – fantastic! And on a side note, they even helped me contact the logistics company about a package I ordered. Seriously, thank you so much!

TTinaMThis is a lovely hotel with kind, welcoming staff. I read some reviews saying the rooms are very old etc, but I don't see how that makes this hotel any less great - the rooms are still clean and well maintained. I arrived in Xi'an after 48 hours of hectic traveling due to a missed train, and the staff at Meihao Hotel were very welcoming, were happy to use translation apps to communicate with me. The room was large, with a view of the neighbourhood outside (mostly just traffic jams haha, but that's Xi'an). The location may not be super ideal for some as it isn't in the city centre, but honestly it was no inconvenience at all, as the nearest subway station is a brisk walk away -- about 5-7 minutes. If you're arriving by train and carrying a lot of heavy luggage, then yes, coming via subway might be a bit of a challenge (but not impossible!) The housekeeping staff especially were very warm and kind. Thank you for always brightening my day when I walked by you all. A few hours after I checked in, a lovely staff member knocked on my door and offered me a small bowl of soup. I was very confused as I hadn't ordered anything, but upon seeing other guests were receiving this too, I gladly accepted. It was such an unexpected, kind gesture -- this hotel truly knows how to make one feel welcome. I fell ill on the second day of my stay, and thankfully the room was so comfortable, I could recuperate well. My only complaint is that the bedsheets, comforter, pillowcases etc -- all the bedding essentially smells of cigarette smoke. I could also smell cigarette smoke from beyond my room's door at night. This was despite there being a clear sign in the room saying smoking was not allowed inside. Though this is certainly not something you can fault hotel staff for (if guests are adamant to smoke inside, what can housekeeping possibly do?), I just thought I would mention this for any other guests who might be very sensitive to the smell, perhaps you could request staff to rewash the bedding until the smoke smell is entirely gone. After checking out, I also noticed there were some freebies that were part of my booking that I unfortunately missed out on :( There was meant to be welcome fruit, afternoon tea for two and a midnight snack, which I would have loved to try. There was no welcome fruit offered, but I did receive some refreshing juice when I arrived to check in -- it was a hot day and I was grateful for the welcome drink. For the other stuff, as I didn't realise it was part of the booking perks, I never asked, and consequently seem to have missed out. I also want to say that aside from the rooms, the lobby area is quite lovely -- very tastefully decorated, peaceful, and I even saw they had some free coffee out for guests! I only noticed this when I was checking out though, and my taxi was already on the way to pick me up, so I could not indulge. Maybe it would be helpful if the reception staff could share all this info with guests when they check in, especially with the foreign guests who are already a bit confused and trying to get their bearings ^-^ Just a suggestion! Thank you for a nice stay. I will definitely be back again soon.

XXiaoqiyaWe stayed for two nights, on the 16th and 17th. On the 15th, I received a call from the hotel asking about our room preferences. I requested a room with a good view, non-smoking, and quiet. When we checked in, the staff assigned us room 213. This was the lowest floor I've ever stayed on in a hotel, and it was room number 13! I was surprised that the hotel actually had a room 13! How could an international hotel like this assign room 13 to a foreigner? During afternoon tea that day, besides my husband, myself, and an Asian mother and daughter, all the other guests were foreigners. This made me realize even more why I was so unlucky to get room 13! This hotel has such a unique room number 13, and they treat their own compatriots differently from foreigners! However, the smart toilet in room 13 was broken. It wouldn't automatically lift the lid or flush when you stood in front of it. What was even more unbearable was that as soon as you sat on it, the toilet would make a loud gurgling sound and automatically spray water on your backside. We tried it twice, and it happened both times. Also, the light switch was malfunctioning and didn't work. As a result, our room was changed to room 206. Neither room 13 nor room 06 had a French garden view; you could only see trees outside the window. Room 06 overlooked a concrete platform. I stayed during the off-season, and there were only a handful of guests at both afternoon tea and breakfast. Even during the peak breakfast time at 8 AM, there were only four tables with no more than ten guests. In such an off-season, why couldn't they offer us a higher floor with a better view? The male butler from the hotel called in advance on the 15th to ask about my room preferences; wasn't that just being insincere and fake? The staff's service level was inconsistent. Two female servers at afternoon tea and breakfast simply didn't observe guests' needs. The slim, tall female server in the afternoon tea restaurant had an ice-cold expression and no proactive service awareness. One female server in the breakfast restaurant looked like she hadn't woken up yet, with messy hair, no makeup, and ill-fitting work clothes, completely lacking the demeanor of a star-rated hotel employee. More importantly, this server didn't proactively observe guests' tables. Every time, we had to call her to take away the empty plates. Even more exaggerated, when she took away empty plates, she wouldn't simultaneously take away empty cups, nor would she think to ask. Let's talk about the problems with the breakfast restaurant: First, the flowers on the dining tables were fake! For a 'diamond-level' hotel like this, how can they put fake flowers on the tables? If they want to save costs, there are many ways: place some air plants or soilless succulents, or even small, easy-to-care-for plants. Anything real would be more tasteful than these fake ones. Regardless, a 'diamond-level' hotel should not have fake flowers on its dining tables. This is disrespectful to guests. Second, there was a wide variety of bread, but no chain-type toaster to heat the bread. This is usually a staple at the bread station in five-star hotels. Yet, at this 'super five-star' hotel, you can only eat cold bread for breakfast. Third, the restaurant only provided toothpicks, not dental floss sticks. Nowadays, even very ordinary restaurants offer dental floss sticks. A 'diamond-level' hotel like this should provide guests with dental floss sticks, and ideally, toothpick brushes. Additionally, the steps in the bathrooms of both room 13 and room 06 were damaged. In room 13, the hotel actually used cheap, uneven gray adhesive corner guards, which looked very out of place and clashed with the exquisite French decor. They should have used brass stair nosings! During my two-day stay at the hotel, Ms. Doris Du's kindness, politeness, proactive work attitude, and professional image left a very good impression on me. After we checked in and received our key, she led us to our room. She first gave us a tour of the hotel and introduced its history. On the day we checked out, she happened to be on duty at the front desk. She was the only staff member at the hotel who immediately stood up to greet guests upon seeing them! The only one! This small professional gesture of hers was like the first ray of sunshine in the morning, warming my heart! Recalling my check-in, there was a male and female staff member at the front desk. They did not stand up to greet us when guests checked in. When we received our room cards and got up to leave, they remained seated without moving. This is disrespectful to guests. Staff should stand up to greet guests when they arrive, ask them to sit down, and then sit down themselves to process the check-in. When guests receive their room cards and get up, the staff should also stand up to see them off. Such basic courtesies of polite welcome and farewell were completely lacking! On the day I checked in, I had two items of clothing that needed ironing. The female staff member who was on duty at the front desk that day came to our room to collect them. During the process of opening the door to see her, handing her the clothes, and briefly communicating with her, she maintained an ice-cold demeanor throughout, without a hint of a smile. She was not the only female staff member in this hotel who provided service without a smile. In summary, all these issues, and more, expose the hotel's unprofessional training and inadequate management. Sofitel Legend People's Grand Hotel Xian is not directly affiliated with the Sofitel group; it is part of the People's Grand Building owned by Shaanxi Urban Investment and Operations Group Co., Ltd., and is operated by AccorHotels, a French hotel management group. Therefore, the experience was vastly different from the Sofitel hotels I've stayed at abroad.

AAnonymous UserCons: - Service was unprofessional. During check in on the first day, the front desk staff seemed clueless as to what he was supposed to do — he asked for our name (which was in English as we made the booking on Trip.com) and did not seem to be able to find our booking. Following this, he did not seem to know how to solve the problem and neither did he take the initiative to ask us for our passport. I had to offer our passport to him to help him find our booking. - After checking us in, the front desk staff did not provide any details as to where the restaurant was (as our package was inclusive of breakfast). Neither did he provide details as to where the washing machine and gym rooms were until we asked for these details. No instructions were given for connecting to the hotel WiFi, and we had to thereafter ask the staff for help with the connection as foreigners were unable to connect to the WiFi via the usual methods. - On the second day of our stay, we received a call from the front desk, who said that they were calling to verify our booking, as they were facing a shortage of rooms. This threw us off as it seemed that the hotel did not do their job of checking us in properly and the staff were not familiar with their own front desk or hotel procedures. Further, the staff made it sound as if we should bear the brunt of the consequences for this error and that we would have to move out given that they did not check us in properly and were facing a shortage of rooms. We had to emphasise again that our booking was confirmed on Trip.com. - One of the front desk staff who was on the night shift was also inattentive, rude and unprofessional. She was using her phone when we informed her that our room needed to be cleaned for the day, and subsequently did not seem to make a note of what we had told her. She merely gave us a dismissive “ok” and went back to using her phone. - The hallways would often have a strong cigarette smell even though we had requested for a non-smoking floor - As previous reviews had highlighted, the shower’s heating system would fluctuate between being hot and cold all of a sudden, which made it easy for users to fall sick especially in winter or be at risk of being scalded by the shower system. It would be good for the hotel to look into this, especially since this has not been fixed since the issue was surfaced in previous reviews - Location-wise there was a bus stop within 5 minutes walking distance, and lots of neighbourhood eateries nearby. However, the metro was rather far (about a 15 minute walk), unlike what is represented on the hotel’s Trip.com page. For those who would like to stay closer to the attractions such as the Bell and Drum tower and shopping malls, this location might be less ideal depending on preference. - One of the cleaning staff who cleaned our room on 27 December 2025 did not clean our room despite being reminded to do so, and when she eventually came, she did a slipshod job — she failed to refill the vanity kit, and while tidying the study desk, knocked over our boxes and bottles and did not even attempt to reorganise our items properly after leaving them in such a state. Pros: - Cleanliness was excellent and must be commended. The room, bedsheets, towels and amenities were always clean and spotless every day, which made this a pleasant and comfortable stay. - Most of the staff responsible for tidying our rooms were all extremely friendly and diligent, and was truly the highlight of our stay. They were also generous if we needed to request for more bottles of water or tissues. We had a pleasant experience with most of the cleaning staff, with the exception of one of them as mentioned above. - Hotel is very high-tech, with smart controls installed in the room which made it very convenient to access the lights, TV and air conditioning - Facilities including the hairdryer were very new and cleano

詠詠許The moment we stepped out of the elevator, a delightful aroma greeted us, leading us into the elegant lobby on the 16th floor. The decor here is tasteful and the atmosphere refined. Several friendly and professional front desk ladies provided excellent service during our check-in. Our room was spacious and comfortable, beautifully furnished, and fully equipped with all kinds of amenities and toiletries. The bed was wonderfully soft, ensuring a deep and restful sleep. Even the bathtub water temperature was just right, making bath time especially enjoyable. The hotel's location is near the Drum Tower, with a variety of restaurants in the vicinity. This is our top choice for a trip to Xi'an, and we will definitely return to this warm and wonderful place in the future! Every penny spent was worth it – the lavish breakfast, exquisite afternoon tea and late-night snacks, and the memorable red wine at the rooftop bar! I truly wish we had booked a few more nights! Many thanks to all the lovely ladies and gentlemen for their warm hospitality! 🌹

GGuest User5/5 the best location just few mins walk to Bell Drum Tower and food street. Great service, comfortable bed, room pictures posted matched the real room condition. Overall a comfortable, relaxing experience. There's another branch of same hotel somewhere close to this hotel. Be mindful, to book this hotel branch and the best thing is to see on map if its close to Four Season By Sheraton Hotel. If you use Didi, use the same hotel Four Season address as sometimes drivers also got confused. Both hotels are at the same location so if you put Mehood or Four Season, it means the same.

JJijirulvlingiThe front desk staff were warm and attentive. Free parking was available during our stay, and the breakfast offered a rich variety. The room was clean and tidy with complete amenities. There was black tea available at the front desk, and a small sofa in the lobby for resting, which was very nice. The surrounding area has convenient transportation. Highly recommended!

GGuest UserHad a great stay here! There's a back exit that takes you straight into the Big Wild Goose Pagoda scenic area, and the hotel itself is beautiful. The rooms are clean, pretty, and spacious with user-friendly smart guest control systems, comfortable beds, and the has separate areas for toilet, shower, and sink which was pretty convenient. The front desk staff, Xiao Rui and Xiao Dong, were super helpful, quick to respond, and helped us find activities to book and other travel tips. The breakfast was also really good with multiple options and Xi'an specialty foods. Our booking also included afternoon tea and dessert soup every day which they delivered whenever we requested it. The room was a bit warm since they have central heating, but they were very accommodating and offered to move us to a different room.

GGuest UserThe facilities were good, staff were generally helpful and nice. Very clean environment; generally has what you need. Very conveniently located. Some of the staff at the front desk are a bit too immature and could act a bit more professional. Apparently, they find it funny for you ask them for water; ask them a few more times and they would giggle and laugh behind your back and make fun of you; they might even horse around with you if Mandarin is not your first language and you don't speak as natively as they do. I made an add on booking for an extra night. If you need them to do anything towards the end of your stay, they might withhold service at the front desk until you give them a perfect rating; they wouldn't check me back in the hotel until I left a good rating/comment for my first booking. They forgot I that I could also rate / comment for my second booking. Basically a bunch of kids. Otherwise, hotel management seems fine. Pretty clean, the staff were generally polite.
