April 15, 2025
We stayed at the resort for 4 nights in April 2025 with two young children. First the good - a reasonably size resort, a short walk internally and you end up on the most stunning beach. Smooth sand, picturesque and you can see why it's rated one of the best beaches in Europe. It has a spa (we didn't use), small gym, games room, padel / sports pitch (didn't see). The staff are excellent and special mention to Telma and an extremely helpful bellboy - no complaints there at all. It feels like the site is remote as on Porto Santo so there isn't enough resources dedicated hence the cheap price. The bad - first room (1 bed suite) was not cleaned properly. In multiple places - random stray hairs etc. we informed the hotel and they agreed and did a clean whilst we were at dinner but came back and same issues - so we moved room at about 10.30pm at night. The second room was good - double bed, ground floor. A single bed & pull out bed. Small table outside. One of the main issue we had with the resort was the food was disappointing. It was usually fish / pork / beef, basic salad bar, tiny pasta selection. Breakfast was the same all 4 days - small amount of fruit selection / fried & scrambled eggs / breads and pastries. Lunch was similar - snack bar does burgers and a pork sandwich, vegan hotdog and little salad bar + fries. The puddings were decent but depending on the batches. We have stayed at multiple places around the world and this was one of the worst food selections we have had. It felt like something from an all inclusive 20 years ago. Repetitive selections, all of it poor. The hotel gave us two alacarte nights due to the room issue - the Italian Luigi was good, the Portuguese place terrible. Fish, chicken and veggie option all poor. The games room is also dated - a huge room with just a table football and table tennis that need booking. A pool table and other games Are also in the lounge. Entertainment in the lounge area also poor. We spent a lot of time on the beach which is superb and made the trip. We have stayed at hotels in Marrakech/ Tenerife / Turkey is the past couple of years and I would rank this below all of them. Overall, if you can get over the poor food it's in a great location set on the most stunning beach. Staff are excellent, friendly and positive. Somewhat dated resort that needs updating and could be spectacular - price reflects quality.
