My first impression with the exterior was that it was an older hotel, but great location. Front desk was nice and thankfully I have a small car because the parking is very narrow. I went inside the room and it has 80s style mirror closets with gold trimming, very dated room. Asides the flat screen TV and the nice mini fridge, you feel like you’re in a very old motel. Flies were inside our room and i had no idea how to get rid of them. I felt itchy after a while, so I honestly had to imagine I was glamping instead of staying in a hotel to stay sane. It’s right by the beach and HVAC or insulation sucks because our bedsheets were pretty moist and almost wet once we laid on them. I just came from staying at the Ritz in Half Moon Bay right on the beach paying about $100 more than this hotel and the room was night and day. It’s insane how much I paid for this room (similar to Legoland hotel prices). The pool, yikes! it’s literally one of those oval pools you see in old motels. I passed by and saw one area with so much sand inside. The ice maker area has two vending machines that are completely empty, but have a trash can full of tons of trash. Where is the maintenance?? I don’t get how I am paying 4-star prices and this is the service you receive. If you’re not concerned about how I experienced the hotel and just want a great location, then this is a great place for you. If you like clean, modernized rooms, then don’t bother with this hotel, you will be grossed out.

This review is LONG overdue! Paola and team are AH-mazing! We had 18 families stay here for a soccer tournament and the service we received was top notch. From the last minute room changes and meeting room requests, their staff made it happen without complaint. Our team has stayed here 3 times and we have always had a great experience. We will definitely be back. Don't get me started on the location. Talk about prime real estate. I have nothing but great things to say about this hotel and the people that work here. 10/10 experience. If you are looking for a great place to stay for your group, look no further!

We are repeat customers of the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort. And we will continue to be repeat customers. We not only stay there but we rent their conference room for workshops. It is the total package. Great location -walking distance to great restaurants. Free Coffee and tea at 6:00 AM Friendly knowledgeable front desk service. And to top it off, Corey Isherwood who was our liaison person for workshops continued to make sure everything was on time and ready to go. Corey goes above and beyond to be sure all the details are taken care of. This is a huge relief if you are doing workshops. Like a fine watch that does everything you ask, we don't want anything to change. Too bad we can't give it more stars. Lori and Ellyn

Location was in walking distance of where we needed to be. Lots of good places to eat. Rooms were clean but only given one towel for two people? Staff was friendly.

We had booked 2 rooms at this hotel for a Carlsbad weekend. It was simply the worst hotel we had ever seen. The hotel looks very nice from the outside. It was not what we expected at all. In order to utilize the kitchen facilities and a coffee maker, you had to check them out at the front desk. There really was no breakfast facility as advertised. They said they put some packaged goods on the table by the front door. When we got to the room, it smelled and did not feel clean. We didn't feel that the sheets were clean and looked for bed bugs quite honestly. My girl friend said she would sleep with her clothes on because it felt so dirty. My son and his wife moved three times trying to find a decent room. We tried to move as well. They offered us the first room he was assigned and turned down. When we went to the second room they offered, there were rings from drinks on the kitchen counter and what appeared to be a significant amount of ashes in the bathroom sink. At that point, we went back to registration and they offered to cancel our reservation. The front desk was very accommodating, so we were very happy with their response. They were the best part of our experience. We left and I couldn't get the smell out of my nose for almost an hour. It was a combination of cooking smells and cleaning fluids. The word that we all kept saying was that it needed to be a demo and total rehab. It was probably the worst hotel experience any of us have ever had.

To be frank, I was kind of skeptical to stay here because of the reviews. I was on a budget and looking for a room for 4 nights. The location was great and the rooms were small but nice. The owners live on premises and are hands on. I think that a lot of these complaints and lack of responsiveness from the business is because English is their second language. I personally had a few kind exchanges with them and you could tell they were appreciative. For those 1 star reviews, to get a decent spot a few blocks from the beach for $50 a night...What is there to complain about?
