We had a two night stay in late September 2025. Ty Mawr is in a lovely location with easy access to Aberglasney Gardens and the National Botanical Garden of Wales. David and Gill are excellent hosts and a pleasure to deal with. Our room was very spacious, comfortable and quiet. We had a delicious evening meal on both nights and the spread for breakfast was exceptional. We will certainly be returning for another visit.

Looking for somewhere to stay convenient to Ceredigion with our dogs, after some 40 years away, I returned to this small hotel, nestled in charming Brechfa on the edge of the beautiful forest. The accommodation is ideal for those travelling with animals, comfortable and thoughtfully appointed, albeit not luxurious. Luxury is never a good idea with my hounds! . The rooms are sensibly and fairly priced for what is being offered but the price does not reflect the warmth of the welcome and the hospitality offered by the relatively new owners who’ve owned Tŷ Mawr for three or so years. A visit to the hotel is principally about the food. The menu is not expensive, but it is delicious and, in my view, there is something for everyone. The wine list is very reasonably priced. The service both at dinner and breakfast (thank you, Clare!) could not have been more obliging. I cannot overstate how comfortable and at home we and our dogs were made to feel, and that’s why we will look for every opportunity to go back as soon as we are in that part of the country.

We had a beautiful Sunday roast with family, a baby and 2 small dogs. Food was incredible (better than some of the top Cotswolds restaurants we have been to) and the staff were so accommodating. Definitely have the fresh focaccia and check out the local made ceramics that they sell. Will return soon!

The warm greeting we received from David, the co-owner, set the tone of the hotel: comfortable, informal and unfussy. The evening meal was excellent and the bedroom characterful and quiet.

This little hotel is a gem. it's in a quiet village in the Brechfa Forest, with a lovely garden. The ambiance is relaxed and comfortable, with comfy sofas, fireplaces, and a lovely dining area on two levels. The rooms are big and spacious - we had two big armchairs in addition to the usual bedroom furniture, and a large and extremely comfortable bed with wonderful pillows. The icing on the cake, though, is the truly exceptional food. Gill is an amazing chef - the menus had a choice of three or four starters, mains and puddings, and even 'ordinary' choices like 'coq au vin' and creme caramel, were exceptionally well-flavoured. Breakfast was superb. Worth a detour!

Very friendly welcome, Breakfast and dinner were tasty and the choice excellent. Our room was comfortable with a king bed, and 2 easy chairs to recline in. The weather turned cold when we were there, but radiators came on to warm the room from 7am. We enjoyed our 3 night stay
