Los Muelles Boutique Hotel

Los Muelles Boutique Hotel ★★★

📍 Wilson Ferreira Aldunate 219, Carmelo

".We stayed in a standard room overlooking the rear courtyard of the hotel. It was very quiet and peaceful. Our room was nicely decorated, comfortable and clean. The spa bathtub was a surprise. The continental breakfast was more than adequate with a nice selection of pastries. Plenty of free parking out front on the street."

Carmelo Resort & Spa ★★★★★

📍 21 Km 262, Departamento de Colonia, Carmelo

"The hotel is really beautiful but it looks like the service quality and conservation dropped after it ended their partnership with Four Seasons and later with Hyatt. Employees were very polite, with good manner, but not in a sufficient number. Many details of bad conservation can be found. Nevertheless, the sunset is unbelievably beautiful. It’s a must!"

Bemar Carmelo Hotel

Bemar Carmelo Hotel ★★

📍 Tabaré 2671, Carmelo

"We stayed a couple of nights here while in Carmelo, primarily to visit wineries. Location-wise the hotel is slightly outside the main heart of Carmelo, and on the other side from most wineries. However the hotel provides free bicycles which we used to easily cycle through town (made easier by the one-way streets) and onto the wine trail. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond when we made a request. The included breakfast was continental with a good range and was delicious."

Casa Chic Carmelo

Casa Chic Carmelo ★★★★

📍 Limite Colonia Belgrano y, Nueva Palmira

"We had dinner with a couple of friends. The service was very good and friendly. The Milanese with noodles was the best dish. The daily specialty was braised pork shoulder, which was tasteless, as was the lamb ravioli. The fish (tilapia) was average, but in some cases it was returned because it tasted musty. In short: nice place, good service and atmosphere, but low-quality food that didn't match the location or the prices."

Los Muelles Boutique Hotel ★★★
"This is a surprisingly nice hotel for a small town. My room was spacious, clean, comfortable, the bed was good, and the decoration nicely different. The bathroom had plenty of space for setting your stuff and the hot water was plentiful unlike other places I have stayed in Uruguay. There are no fixed lihts in the main area of the room and the bedside lights provide just enough light to read by when in bed. There are a lot of spaces inside the hotel for guests and lots of different art and interior decoration. The entry to the hotel is locked and you have to use the bell panel beside the door to have it opened. The breakfast was very much aligned to local tastes and was fine. My only complaint is that the heat pump in my room (105) was intermittently very noisy and you would not want it on while sleeping."

Carmelo Resort & Spa ★★★★★
"I am finding it difficult to fairly rate this hotel as I suppose the quality of the stay will highly correlate with how busy it is and what sort of holiday you are looking for. I was there with my adult daughter and when we arrived, the hotel was fairly empty and had a sleepy quality to it. By that I mean that staff was decidedly uninterested in us. We arrived after a longer drive and pulled up to reception, expecting to be greeted and to be shown a parking spot etc. We waited around for a bit and then left the car and went into the reception, where no one even looked up to greet us. We then proceeded to check in - not that easy as no one spoke a word of English. So of course, we are traveling in a Spanish speaking country and we should be more fluent in Spanish, but that being said, this is an international hotel chain (Hyatt) and a little knowledge of English can be expected. We were then not brought to our Apartment (which was quite a bit away and one can`t drive there) but shown the direction where it would be. When we asked what to do about the luggage, they asked us to unload the car ourselves and then someone would take care of it. It all seemed a bit like there were no processes in place. The room was very nice, if a bit dated. This used to be a Four Seasons property and one can see what it would have been like in those days. There was absolutely no information material in the room regarding activities - people generally go to this area to go for wine tastings, horseback, fishing etc etc - all of which the hotel claims to offer. So we went back to reception to ask about information and they said they had none in print but we could also not inquire with them right then and there (due to the language barrier I assume) and we were asked to go back to the room and send our questions via whatsapp. We then received conflicting information whether horseback was in groups or individual and were offered no general information but just replies to what we specifically asked. It turns out all activities are carried out outside of the hotel via local providers. In the end, we decided to get our own information from the internet and book activities ourselves, which worked out fine. After two days more guests arrived and the atmosphere and things suddenly improved, there was service at the pool and the level of service generally picked up. Therefore, to be fair, I think this can be a very nice place if you go as a family with kids (which most guests that had by then arrived seemed to have been) and you don`t go outside of high season. I would not recommend the hotel for couples. You also need to realize that, while this is a resort-style hotel, a lot of the activities are not offered on the property but are outsourced locally."

"A very charming boutique hotel, a romantic and familiar atmosphere, very comfortable rooms clean, smellful and equipped. The restaurant is beautiful, but it deserves a better gastronomy and a letter of wine worthy of the site, breakfast is amazing, the pool is a show apart, the playlist is always very good. Academy and bikes the disposal, tennis square (only bowls in conditions to play) may have more options for activities available to a family that has children. The sunset is great, we love it and we will be back with sureness."
