"What a fabulous find. We visited three times during our stay and each visit was excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is amazing. Steaks are succulent and so well cooked. But so is the chicken and the salmon. Deserts are also the best we have had throughout our stay in Costa Rica. However the empanadas are really special. So well filled, crisp, and succulent. A brilliant find in such a remote place."

"Our recent stay at El Sueno Tropical was fantastic. The location is great, it is quiet and yet close enough to 3 beaches in the area. There is a store near by and lots of activities to do. We had the superior double room, which was perfect for a family with 2 children (2 bedrooms with one queen and 2 twins and a living area with couch and well equipped kitchenette including a large fridge) Beds were very comfortable and rooms were bright, nice and clean (recently renovated). The grounds are beautiful and the pool is really nice, an area where you definitely want to hang out and relax. The restaurant offers great food and the pizza is a must try ;) The bar has a nice atmoshere where you can mingle with other guests. We felt very welcome and at home. The owners Erin and Drew were exceptional hosts. They made sure every guest is happy and were very helpful with booking activities in the area and beyond. We already miss this place and are surely coming back! "

"Sometimes it seems like reviews might be too good to be true - but this B&B truly deserves 5 stars (which I do not give out readily - see my other reviews!) But this B&B was truly lovely: quiet, clean, reasonably priced, and located a 5 minute walk from a beautiful, safe swimming beach. The breakfast ($15 US) could be added on a la carte each day, and there were reasonably priced snacks/drinks from the honor bar. I was slightly worried about not having a rental car, but the little town of Carrillo was walkable and all tours could be arranged to pick up at the hotel; plus it was very easy to walk to the bus stop in Carrillo (5 min walk) and catch the bus (which runs about every 2 hours to Samara, a larger town 15 min bus ride away, with more shops/restaurants/hiking/surfing lessons/etc. Most guests here appeared to be European, so that combined with the no-young children policy (being to enjoy one's vacation without someone else's screaming children keeping you up all night = priceless) made it feel like the vibes of a well-run hotel in the Alps, just by a beach in Costa Rica, which was lovely."
