Stonehouse Hotel is a delightful property in a wonderful location with most welcoming staff. We have stayed many ties and hopt to stay again.

I like dogs in their place but their place is not in what purports to be a quality restaurant. Our experience was spoilt by yapping dogs and brain dead feckless owners who seem oblivious to the disruption caused. The Thai fish cakes and chicken dish were very good. Were they worth £41 for the two courses probably not. That said way better value than the nearby Simonstone Hall with ridiculous pricing. I know hotel owners unless they are top drawer cannot afford to ban dogs. It’s the owners I have a problem with who seem incapable of being separated from them at any time.

This is one of the best hotels that we have stayed at in over 40 years. The staff were helpful and friendly, creating a warm atmosphere, the attention to the decor and fittings were impressive and the food was excellent. Set in a beautiful location, with lots of bird life in the grounds

The hotel, a lovely converted house, is on a valley side looking downwards towards the the river at Hawes and upwards towards the fell tops. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens with lots of places to sit and enjoy the views. The room we had was spacious and decorated such that gave it an atmosphere of calm comfort The food was never less that excellent. The fish cooking was equal to the best we have ever tasted. The most important thing was the staff. Without exception they were friendly (without being intrusive) helpful, cheerful and had the ability to make us feel completely at home. Our five day stay was perfect, so much so the we have already booked for a slightly longer stay nest year.

This is probably the best hotel we've stayed in. From arriving and being greeted by the friendly staff, to the fabulous food and gorgeous surroundings. We booked a conservatory room will beautiful views over Hawes. The staff cannot do enough for you.

From the moment you arrive ( and even before - as all my questions were answered in a more than adequate way) you feel welcome and at home in this wonderfully luxurious but tastefully warm historic house, where the fantastic food, the comfortable beds, the many cosy corners to sit and relax but most of all the fantastic staff will make you hate to leave. Don't expect the often over-the-top stiff and fake hospitality-friendliness one often encounters in this type of top-class establishment. Here everybody radiates a very positive and truly friendly attitude, with the focus on your well-being and nothing else. Well behaved dogs are very welcome here, and that only adds to the nice country-feeling. We've travelled a lot, but have encountered very few places - if any- like this one. Highly recommended !

We loved our visit to the Stone House. The position, a short walk from Hawes suited us very well, and the view from our window of a field full of lambs was magical. Staff were all very helpful. The hotel has the atmosphere of a country house - refined and traditional. We would stay there again.

Brilliant hotel in lovely location. Friendly and efficient staff. Gorgeous room and en-suite. Ideally located for Hawes. Would recommend to everyone. Definitely will visit again soon. Good car park. Nice bar for drinks. Excellent breakfast.
