Best Hotels in Castro-Urdiales, Spain

Stayed one night to explore Castro urdialies en route to ferry home. About 15 min walk along the sea front to downtown where the action is. Room fine with tea and coffee facilities (rare for Spain) and was ‘standard decent chain’ quality. Staff all friendly. We were able to park directly outside the hotel (€9) but this was low season. Didn’t pay for breakfast as it seemed expensive and there were several cafés offering breakfast less than 2 min walk away in the little local centre. A good base to enjoy the tapas delights of Castro Urdialies

The hotel and its grounds are beautiful. Unfortunately, our stay was ruined by terrible staff conduct. We were met by a rude receptionist on arrival (blonde hair female). Upon entering our room we couldn't find a kettle or tea/coffee facilities, which is unusual for a 4* hotel. Having asked back at reception we were told they don't do it for rooms that don't pay enough, and too bad! Not only is this an extremely poor and cost cutting approach, but it would take such little effort to make things right, e.g. Offer a complimentary hot drink?! Unfortunately this approach runs deep in this hotel. The bare minimum. They just don't care. At dinner, we were brought the wrong dish entirely (firstly dangerous towards guests with intolerances and allergies) but the staff again just did not care and after 20 minutes offered to return the correct dish, lukewarm. This is the BARE MINIMUM of service recovery. No attempt to make things right or leave the guest with any sense that they care at all. You will find all staff seem to be trained in not caring here, housekeeping staff will not share a pleasant Good morning, but will instead barge past you in the corridor. Gym facilities were out of order and unavailable. That same receptionist coughed on us at check-out to top it off. The staff and service ruin this hotel to the core. I will share one redeeming factor. A junior staff member names Frida Martin was the only individual who knows how to look after guests. Wanting to be conversational, asking about our stay and eager to go the extra mile. My biggest fear is her talents are wasted here. Alone, she would make a better manager to the hotel than the current team which is running the property into an early grave by driving away guests with poor service. We certainly won't be returning, and FYI, it is common for kettles in the room across Europe, even in budget brands such as ibis. Get a grip or go bust! An embarrassment to the Paradores brand.

The truth seemed to me very uncomfortable to have to go to the other building to register****, as well as they could make a entry and not have to turn around. I don't know what it was but there was something that was to noise, I don't know if it was the air conditioning (it is supposed to be shut off), in addition to the noise of the wicker, it was heard the noise of the fault. The small towels. The lift was very noisy when he opened the doors or stood on the floor (fortunately I was far from the lift). The cafeteria was very good, even the servant offered me a stick to not burn with what I was carrying, as I said I had to go to the other building. The room was very small and it was not a ventilator for smell out.

We stayed one night, convenient location in a nice neighborhood with easy metro connection to Bilbao. Triple room modern airy, clean and well appointed , ours had balcony overlooking small park. Common areas of Joel possibly a little tired , but not a problem. Ate at the hotel and food was very good. Plenty of Free parking on site. Good choice

The fact that they allow pets is a plus for travellers like me that like to have their 4 legs friend with him. On arrival was a bowl with food and a small treat..what an amazing gesture. The hotel is really amazing. Staff is friendly although could notice some staff shortage for the amount of business but suppose that is the hospitality problem everywhere. looking at some reviews seems that people just look at businesses for what they are and are not aware of the lack of staff in the industry. The only thing I would fault is the fact that the bar closes at 10.30pm. Other than that can't fault either hotel and staff. Definitely would recommend and stay there again. Another plus is the place is close from everything.

I went to eat with my wife a special menu, the truth is that we were surprised the site how well it is to be in a polygon. The special menu very rich, good quantity and good quality. The treatment of staff very friendly and professional. There were many workers eating the menu of the day that was very good paint. Perfect price quality. We will surely come back.

The river view room is stunning. It is wonderful to be able to enjoy from near the beautiful Vizcaya Bridge and the beautiful estuary in which you can see different athletes rowing and also observe some small boats sailing. The room is picturesque with modern and more classic details. What I like the most, as I said, is the balcony with views of the estuary and the comfort of the bed. Good TV, it has a mini bar and coffee maker with two complimentary capsules and downstairs in the hotel hall there is an old elevator in which it has coffee, chocolate and other drinks also free of charge 24 hours a day. Good attention from the employees since they were always friendly and willing, and everything was clean. I will return as soon as I can, I felt very comfortable with everything 😃👍🏽
