The Marine Hotel in Ballycastle was such a pleasure to visit. The staff were exceptionally attentive. When Charles and Claire meet you in the lobby, be prepared to be spoilt, with efficient service, a great smile, and the best chowder for miles. We stayed in a room with a view of the sea and availed of a special deal of pizza and a drink on arrival. Despite the hotel being packed on a busy Friday, Charles had us sorted within 15 minutes! The secret was to avail of food in the lobby to avoid queues in the restaurant, which would have been grand with a rebooking.

Beautiful, clean, light and airy room with a fantastic view of the marina and up the street - dual aspect. Staff were fab as was the food. Loved the turn-down service. Bus services fab for travelling to Portrush, Coleraine or the opposite direction to Glens of Antrim, Carnlough & Larne. Booked as a gift for my parents - hoping to visit myself one day.

Who doesn't love Ballycastle? It is such a great town in Northern Ireland, and the Marine Hotel is located in a fabulous spot along the seafront. Views are exceptional. So the Marine is in an excellent stop over to discover the historic town of Ballycastle and the surrounding areas. The food was very good, bar and restaurant great, service friendly, professional, and room service appreciated. The management, however, must now focus on making much needed improvements to the bedrooms. The pillows in the executive room were way below standard, the temperature of the room uncontrollable and uncomfortable, the decor very outdated and bland compared to others. However, I really like this hotel, mainly because of the location and I am looking forward to returning. I wish the management and staff a successful future.

The bed was the most comfortable we have slept in for some time. A great night's sleep. The hotel was clean and tidy - staff are attentive and friendly. The restaurant food is appetising and the service was good. This hotel is a great base for exploring the surrounding area.

Fabulous hotel right by the sea. Clean bright comfortable rooms with luxurious bathrooms… and even delicious homemade shortbread. Super friendly and professional staff. This was our third visit and we are planning our fourth. Best hotel in Ballycastle!

Sat at the outside tables, enjoying the sunshine and a couple of glasses of wine with my husband and son. The owner, who also served us persuaded us to enjoy one of the hotel pizza's. The wine was delicious as was the guiness and the pizza was a very welcome snack to share. The owner was very charming and chatted away, informing us of what was on offer and engaging with our son about his exams. It was a very pleasant, enjoyable afternoon and the service was superb.

I stayed in the Marine with girlfriends a few weeks ago and had the best time. Lovely Scandinavian style decor in the rooms with the most gorgeous sea views. Such a comfortable nights sleep, great beds and bedding, and lovely touches like night time tea and oat biscuits, and yoga mats for sunrise stretches looking out at the sea. Great spot to go with friend: lovely food and drinks in the hotel and lots of quaint local pubs alongside artisan eateries. Icing on the cake is the gorgeous setting with hikes, boat trips and sea sports close by. We visit every year!

Food. My wife and I popped in for a coffee etc. We were directed to a table. After around 15 minutes a waitress arrived to take our order. My wife asked for tea and a biscuit. I asked for a large coffee and brown bread chicken sandwich. Problem 1. Despite serving Costa coffee she said they don't serve large coffees! Problem 2 Despite it being table service I was asked to pay in advance but my cash was refused. Problem 3. When the food etc. arrived I saw immediately that the sandwich was white bread. The waitress checked her tablet and confirmed that I had ordered brown bread and took the sandwich away. Problem 4. My wife noted that she had not been given milk for her tea. Problem 5. When my replacement sandwich arrived it proved to be a bacon sandwich. Problem 6. There was an almighty crash beside our table when a waiter allowed a dish of salad cream and another of jam to fall from his tray. He wiped the mess up but left the floor sticky as I found out as we were leaving. The fact that they refuse cash means that I would be unlikely to go back but the whole experience was a disaster.

After a lovely walk on the beach we were lucky enough to get a table outside for some drinks. We were planning on heading on up to the town centre for something to eat but instead decided to order from the Al fresco menu We ordered a margherita and pepperoni pizzas with portion of chips. The chips came quite quickly but we waited sometime for the pizzas. There was a misunderstanding with the waitress. Despite telling her we thought they were for us she continued to walk around with them. I wish I could say they were worth the wait. But honestly I've had better after a late night out or from a supermarket frozen pizza. We may as well have been eating a pizza base thinly smeared with sauce and the litghest sprinkling of cheese possible. Definitely not Hotel quality at £10 each!
