Hotel la Torre

Such a lovely old building, converted with great taste to make a very pleasant stay up in the hills, about ten minutes drive from the waters of Lake Como. Our room #2 featured a nice West facing terrace looking across the valley, and had a table and chairs, and two loungers. Yet still loads more space. Comfy bed, and nice furniture to compliment the room. Small bathroom with bidet, toilet, sink, and a small shower. Shutters on all the windows keep the early morning light out, and the summer heat out too. No evening meals, which is understandable economically for just the six rooms (currently). But a decent continental breakfast to help start the day, before exploring the region. A ten minute drive to Argegno on Lake Como is best for an evening meal. If not, there are three simple cafe / bars offering limited food. A car really is a must. It's not easy to get there by bus. It's not impossible. We did it. But it's much easier with a rental car, and there's plenty of parking. The three ladies we have encountered in reception all do as much as they possibly can to help you out.

We stayed at The La Torre hotel for two nights after our flight back to Manchester was cancelled due to a Strike at Milan airport the day before our departure (Saturday 15th July) & couldn't get a flight back until Monday 17th July . We were left in a turmoil as we had to be out of our accommodation Saturday morning & managed to find this Hotel on *********** & booked one of the family room suites for 2 nights. We made the booking & set off on the 1.5hrs drive to the La Torre Hotel with my wife & her daughter & 10yr old son. We arrived at the hotel at 11am in the small village & the booking was confirmed but it had only been booked for 2 adults ( Our mistake) & to make matters worse it was no children under 14!! The receptionist was absolutely brilliant & managed to sort & allowed our 10yrs old grandson to stay as she understood the mistake was genuine. We were taken to the family room & we were very pleasantly surprised as the room was spotless & spacious. The hotel has a charming rustic feel to it & is full of character. Yes as previous review states there isn't aircon in the room & it was warm at night but this wasn't a major issue & the ambiance of the Hotel made up for this. Any help with local restaurants or info about the village the hotel Staff were fantastic & they could not do enough for us. This is a lovely 3 star hotel with brilliant staff & i wouldn't hesitate to return if we ever stayed in the Lake Como area again.
