Casa do Mudo

Excellent stay with the amongst the best food of our trip - breakfast was spectacular as well as a delicious home made evening meal. A beautifully restored old building to a high spec with friendly staff. Thank you!

My wife and I stayed one night whilst touring in Northwest Spain. We used it primarily as a base for visiting an excellent seafood restaurant for lunch (A Lonxa in Burela), and for cycling around the local area on our e-bikes. The house is in a very quiet rural setting with a local village (including a bar) within walking distance (albeit involving a fairly steep hill), and Burela a short drive away. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with plenty of outside space in which to relax. Our room was very large, light & airy. The bed was extremely comfortable. There is ample easy parking within the grounds of the property. We were also able to charge our e-bikes in-situ in the parking area which was convenient. Our hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming, despite us turning up early (so we could unload our bikes for a day's cycling). Our host, Ana, spoke relatively little English but we managed to communicate easily enough with our (limited) Spanish. She was very helpful suggesting some local sights to visit. Despite having had a nice lunch at A Lonxa, we also wanted to try the evening dinner option at the property (advance booking required). There is no menu, but we were treated to a 3 course feast of beautifully home-cooked food. Our (late-ish) lunch, coupled with the enormous portions(!), meant that we struggled to finish everything presented to us, but everything we tried was delicious. We were able to purchase wine to accompany from a winelist. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa do Mudo, but realised a couple of days later that my wife had left an item behind in the room. We contacted Ana, who could not have been more helpful in locating the item and posting it on to us. We are very grateful for this level of thought and attention! Overall, we cannot recommend this property highly enough. We thoroughly endorse it as a great relaxing base to visit a lovely area, and also recommend taking up the option for dinner (maybe skip lunch on this day though, you won't need it!).
